Lithium Grease On Throttle Cable?

Hello. Last month I noticed that my gas pedal was sticking a little when I first started the truck (00 Silverado 1500). I tried to get in touch with my mechanic only to find out that he was way on a little hiatus and was travelling with his wife. Not knowing squat about mechanics I took the truck to a friend of mine who appreantly thinks and claims he knows a lot about mechanics and he sprayed white lithium grease on my throttle cable near the throttle body and on the cable and on the cable and hole that are in the cabin which go through the firewall and connect to the pedal. I didn't know any better and thought that he did. I have been reading this forum since then and I bought a Haynes manual and I now realize that my throttle body needs cleaning and not the cables like my idiot friend thought. Is the grease ok where it is or should I clean it off and if so with what?

Theres also a bulletin out to permanantly fix the sticking throttle pedal (You plug the hole in the throttle blade and adjust the TPS sensor)

White lithium grease is the devil and often causes more problems than it solves.
