Recommended Posts

Hello,

I know some of you guys take of the stickers, ie Z71 or 4x4, that come on our trucks. I have a pinstripe that is stuck on. How do I get it off. Thanks for your help!

(heat gun/hair dryer + plastic knife/scraper + adhesive remover) + polish + wax = elbow grease

Within the first few hours of getting the truck, I grabbed my wife's hairdryer, started peeling the vinyl pinstripe slowly and it came off in complete strips. No adhesive remained.

i used a plastic putty knife and my girlfriends hair dryer. Then went over it with goo-gone to get rid of the residue. hope this helps.

You'd need something with a little more 'kick' to it. With C4 you'd still end up with 'pieces' of sticker and pin stripes remaining. :D

Thanks for the help guys! Now I just need to vision myself doing this with my wifes hot pink hairdryer.

Hmm... you could wrap the hair dryer in black electrical tape first. :D That is if she'd let you use it to begin with.

Or you could use as a good excuse to go buy some more "tools". :D

If you go to a bodyshop supply store they should have an "eraser" which is basiclly some type of rubber wheel that has a mount to fit any drill. So you just tighten the eraser into your drill and it will remove your pin stripe or any adhesive residue from stickers, tape or body mouldings that have been removed. That's what the folks at the bodyshops usually use. If you are worried what people think of you it's definately more manly than a pink hairdryer.

I used my heatgun on low, which is essentially like a hairdryer, and peeled right off...mostly intact. I used 3M adhesive remover to remove any glue residue remaining.
