Replacing Middle Jump Seat In 08 Silverado

I have found a jump seat console with all the storage and cup holders to replace the basic one in my 08. Problem is I am not sure how to remove the old one. I am sure I will need to remove at least one seat(40/20/40 seats).Question is how do you remove the seats. They are just basic, no heater, no power. I am not a ASE mechanic or anything, but I am fairly competent with basic tools, can I do this?

Very easy to remove, only held in with about 4 bolts each, just pop the covers off, pull it out, and then you can reach the center console. What are you going to do with it once you get it out?

Before you start the removal process, to avoid an expensive repair, disconnect the negative battery cable at the battery before you begin removal of the seats. There are sensors in the seats that are plugged into the electrical harness. If you unplug the seats while the battery power is still active or the capacitor is still charged, you may blow your airbags.

Good info. I plan on removing my jumpseat with the compartments and replace it with a full center concole soon. My plan was to loosen the outer bolts and remove the inner bolts and tilt the seats toward the doors and slid the console out and slide the new one in.

Dunno, haven't really thought about it.

Great info about the airbags also.

The center jumpseat is mounted under the driver and passenger seat bracket. There is no nead to remove the d and p seats. Just remove the 2 bolts on the inside of each that are holding the jumpseat down, and loosen the 2 outside bolts. If you have someone to help you, they can pull out on the seats which will allow you to slide the old jumpseat out and the new one in. I did it alone, and just kneeled down in the backseat and put a knee on the driver seat and an elbow on the passenger seat and was able to push them out enough to do it relatively easily.

I have found a replacement seat on ebay but I wanted to check with someone who has replaced the seat to make sure the center seat with no lid can fit a new center seat with a lid.

Has anyone had any trouble with different seats fitting?
