Nav Upgrade Yukon Denali 2007

Ok I am new to this but I have been searching the Internet for weeks now on upgrades for the Nav units on the GM vehicles. I have found allot of useful information and I want to share and I hope others will as well. Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

I started out to upgrade my 2007 Yukon Denali I have the Nav unit already in my vehicle but it does not have the DVD in park option. So did allot of research and found what I thought I needed to accomplish this task. I found the item on ebay place it in my vehicle and off to the dealer I went. Why you ask? Well the new Nav units are matched to vehicles VIN it is in, so when I received my new (used) Nav it was programed to the old GM vehicle and I needed it to match it to my vehicle. When I got it installed in my Denali it had a blue screen and said "Theft lock". Any way so I take it to the dealer and they remove the Theft lock but I had NO sound, they looked at if for about 2 hours and finally said it can't be done your Nav is a foreign unit and wont work with this American car. (You have to wonder some times).

Anyway I did not believe this so I went to the Internet again and I found some information that I think everyone needs to know who wants to tackle this. It sounds like GM has 2 different Bose system one that is a lux model and one that is a non-lux model both with Bose. It sounds like the Denial's have come with the lux models and my Nav unit I purchased was for a non-lux vehicle.

Here are the things to look for in your vehicle if you are interested...

In the glove box look for the RPO codes, you are looking for the Y91 and UQA.

Y91 is the Denali Package or Luxury model.

UQA is the Bose or Premium system.

If you have these you will need a Lux model Nav system!!!

Ok if any one has anything to add please send it our way, if I made some mistakes please correct me. Thanks!!!

Just so people aren't confused, the above link goes to a thread describing factory nav upgrade on a GMT800. I didn't see anybody comment on that anywhere so I thought I would.

Not sure, is the 2007 Yukon still the old body style or is it the new platform? If it's the GMT900 style, there are no longer Lux or Non-Lux designations.

Thanks for the replys, I too have read this post entirely it was a great write up but it dealt with the older style and yes the 2007 has the newer body style. I am trying find out more on the 2007 (new style) and if they do or don't have the lux and non-lux. If anyone know send it our way. Once I find out I will ship it out to all!!!
