Antenna Delete

Looks good. This will be my next project it looks like. Did I miss something in this thread (didn't see it in the original post)? What did you guys use to remount it up under the lip of the hood? Some sort of self tapping screws?

Ok I feel like an idiot today, I went and got all the stuff I need to remove the antenna but once I got home I couldn't get the antenna off. It spins and just keeps spinning. Is there something I need to hold on to so it unscrews from the base?

To fix the hole get some plastic weld. It's a two part expoxy to slowly build it up till you have filled the hole. I used this when I cut the holes to big on my gsxr for the frame sliders and worked very well. It is paintable as well but generally comes in black.

I just used the Escalade cowl corner since that has no hole. I also did not relocate the antenna since I strictly use my ipod

I had a really hard time getting my antenna off, too. I think it was cross-threaded when it was installed.

 

I used a 5' long wire and mounted my antenna almost vertically in front of my radiator. The wire is completely hidden. AM reception is not great but FM is no different than stock.

 

I bought a replacement cowl end-cap for $9 new from cheapestgmparts.com and cut up my old one to cut and fit a plug for the antenna hole. It's not perfect but at least the texture matches. I used Locktite epoxy for plastic to hold the plug in place. I did have to cut off the tip of the antenna mount stud due to the epoxy filling part of the area under the new plug.
