Antenna Delete

Oh, it's just some Oracal. I see.

I used to work in a sign shop during college and still have connections with my old boss (oddly, I saw him just today) but I can't imagine that vinyl will stay on there very long. I thought maybe you had fund a vinyl plug of some kind or something.

Let us know in a month or so how the vinyl is holding up.

Oh, nudity is frowned upon here, LOL.

I was thinking of a wood plug but any one have any other Ideas??

I have a free piece of vinyl for who ever comes up with a plug design...

Forget the vinyl! Cover the top side of the hole with masking tape and then fill it from the bottom side with black silicone. Blends well. Water tight and can be easily cut out if you ever want to replace the antenna. :D

Great Idea, thank you for the suggestion!

i would say maybe finding some old plastic laying around your house or where ever and get the dremel out, cut/trim/sand a piece to fit the area then use some epoxy to adhere it to the cowl, then run your vinyl over that. Should give the vinyl enough area to stick well enough too, or maybe even just paint the plastic. Might want to check out some of your local junkyards for a possible wrecked chevy/gmc then snag the cowl from that even.

Anyone know where I can get a 7mm nut and bolt? Seems to be pretty rare, searched the interweb and cannot find anything. Went to Lowes and Home Depot, nothing there. I'm not a huge fan of the antenna, nor do I really need it (never listen to AM/FM). Instead of just taking it off I would like to keep the functionality... just in case. So, where are these little buggers? Anyone have a spare bolt and nut?

To get rid of the hole, I would get a new corner piece thats on an escalade they have no hole. I they have the antenna in the roof. It may be on other trucks but I seen it on escalades.

My local Home Depot had them. Look in the drawers with "specialty" fasteners and rummage around till you find them. They also had wire on spools so I could buy just a couple of feet. Ace hardware was going to be my next stop.

My antenna has been deleted as of last night. Testing reception today....

I found a metric fastener store to pick up the 7mm nut and bolt. However, I did not realize the washers I had would not work (well). I found out that Lowes at a different location had a M7 drawer. Seems to be that only 50% of the stores in my area have them. Later today I will fix up my antenna delete.

I will have to do this to my truck asap. My antenna hits my garage door preatty good and I was going to order a shorter antenna but this would be way better.

Does anyone know if the cowl part from the 07-09 escalade will fit an 08 sierra denali. I just did this mod, but to cover up the old all it had was some electrical tape which I am sure will not last that long.

I'd like to know too... it sure LOOKS like it will fit, but I'd have to go to a Caddy dealer and see if I could test fit the part for sure.

How about this, does anyone have the P/N?

Will this part #15287179 work for 2006 Chevy to?

Yes, that will work for a GMT800.

It WON'T work for a GMT900.

Repeat, DO NOT ORDER that part for the GMT900 series trucks, it will not fit.

Yup, that part shows as being for a GMT800 Escalade. Just have to find the part number for that piece on a GMT900 Escalade. Presumably it would work, but :rollin:
