pchrist Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Has anyone done any hid fog mod? Has anyone had any damage from it? If you have done it which bulb 9005 or 880? If damage what kind of damage???
tobias Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Although I have stated this and I am sure you have read it elsewhere, I wanted to answer your question here. I have had no damage whatsoever with my 9005 mod.
pchrist Posted March 11, 2009 Author Posted March 11, 2009 Well yes I have read it and took note. I actually did the 9005 mod with a eurolite blue bulb and started to get a hot spot on my lens of the fog. Took it out. Now a factory bulb burned out and i want to replace with hid. Hence the group buy project. I haven't heard of anyone ever having an issue with hid in any case, but Xenon says different trying to feel out the crowd and see the results from those that have done it. I have my fogs wired to be on if the truck is on. The parking lights and the fogs are on all the time. I know it's not for everyone but hey it's my truck!!!! LOL Anyways before i drop some jack on this i don't want it to bite me back. just looking for some personal experiences.

If damage what kind of damage??? No problems whatsoever here. The only people I have heard of reporting problems are those who have tried it in vehicles with the smaller fog light housings, such as Yukons. I use mine as DRLs and have them on for hours at a time with no issues.
gvbhunt Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 +1 No problems here either. I did mine the way that Daddy did his.
BuckFeverZ Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 I still fail to see how HID's would damage the fog light housing
gvbhunt Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 I think that he meant that his original 9005 mod warped the housing. Pretty sure that the HID cannot as it runs cooler. Maybe on a smaller lens but on something like the GMC or Chevy truck I would bet against it. I would not try it on my wife's '07 Tahoe as those fog housings are about the size of a decent apple.
