Nbs Silverado Alternator/electrical Noise

I've installed some headrest DVD players and a ham radio in my '07 Silverado and have never had so much trouble with electrical noise. I can even hear it in the OEM stereo when there is no incoming audio (like with the line-in connected to an Ipod that is paused). I've tried difference grounds, running both + and - to the battery, etc. and nothing helps. I even tried an old radio shack alternator noise filter I had laying around. The only way to eliminate the noise was to power the radio/dvd with my second battery, which is currently not wired to the alternator (it's completely disconnected since I've not wired it with an isolator yet).

 

Any thoughts? I thought about asking the dealer but you know what the answer is to vague questions like this.

I'd forget about the dealer and head for a high quality car audio shop. A lot of times a good tech can kill a noise issue in a very short amount of time since they have dealt with these problems over and over. Many times when you add electrical components, the noise can be traced to the constant 12V coming in or even a damaged cable. Aftermarket stuff is very sensitive to noise.

Problem solved:

 

Dealer checked it out, and like mentioned above, found nothing. Apparently after some more research, there are so many computers in these new trucks that EMF could be causing the problem to be worse. Anyway - I used a cheap alternator noise supressor (torroid and a cap), grounded it well, and the problem is completely gone.

So I ordered that torroid and cap unit, so where did you end up plugging it in?
