Ok I didnt get the ticket but my wife did. 48 in a 35. From what she said and the addresses it happened I do not see how this is possible

From the time she pulled out of her work parking lot until the time she pulled over for the officer it was .12 miles. How did she get up to 48 mph during traffic time? I want to know what is under the impala's hood because it sure isnt a 3.4 V-6. She is fired up and wanting to fight it (I think she could win easily) but a buddy of mine said dont fight it you will never win (his buddy is an officer for the county). Daddy any experience with the IMPD?

oh yea what sucks is they have a safe driver diversion plan if you havent had any tixs in the past 6 months. Only problem is 5 months and 27 days ago she got a ticket (she was speeding and never denied it)

Wow, her car must really shit and get. :dunno: I don't know what kind of advice to give you on this. Good luck.

Unfortunately, you won't win. It's almost impossible to win 'cause the burden is on you to prove that you are innocent. No longer is it innocent until proven guilty.

It would be hard one to fight as it is her word over the cop's. Of course if there was more time you could get into things like the accuracy of the radar gun, traffic at that time of day, see if there are any surveillance videos from surrounding buildings, acceleration over distance metrics, etc to support your case.

Lots of good luck though!

my engineering degree and TI89 calculator could come in handy :dunno:

Modern laser detection is pretty darn pinpoint and accurate. If that's how they clocked her, it's going to be hard to disprove. I'm not saying that she was guilty or innocent here... but the laser really doesn't lie.

Just the same, I hope she beats it! :dunno:

I know the city here is trying to screw me over a dam handicapped parking ticket. I know exactly how you feel. But it does seem like we're now guilty unless we can prove otherwise. The only thing I can tell you is if she has Onstar, call them and see if they can track where and how fast the car was going???? Not even sure if thats possible, but it worth a try to ask. Other than that, you'll have to get a lawyer. Most cities now know this and figure most people will end up just paying the fine rather than go thru the trouble of paying a lawyer to fight it. But I'm the opposite, I'm stubborn. I feel that if I didn't deserve the ticket, I won't pay it. I'd rather pay $500 to a lawyer than pay a $300 fine to the city, thats just how I am. When I lived in New Orleans, I got a ticket for loud music and running a stop sign. NEITHER of which I was guilty of. The car in front of me did have loud music, but the cops thought it was me. I ended up dragging it out for over 5 years! yes FIVE. Every time I went to court, I refused the deal they offered me, and they would just give me another court date. They kept trying to get me to pay a total of $450 and I refused. After going to court every 3-4 months or so for five years, I finally saw a guy I knew from coming in my work all the time in the courtroom. He was a very good customer (and also a clerk of court). I guess it was my lucky day. He said "Hey buddy, what you doin in here?" I told him, explained my story and all, and he said "come take a walk with me" , We went in the back he pretty much told the DA to dismiss it and it was done. :dunno: He made fun of me for the longest for dragging it out for so long.

Now as for this handicapped parking ticket I got here in Shreveport, I'll fight this one to the death as well. No matter how long it takes, how many times I have to go to court, I REFUSE to pay it! The ONLY way they would ever get any money out of me is if they go as far as arresting me for it. If I was guilty, I'd have no problem paying it, but I'm innocent (and handicapped for christ sake!!!!)

well at least go to court and try and get the points reduced.. i made that mistake.

i have 9 points on my license right now because i just paid them and didn't worry about it. and i only have 2 tickets

35 in a 25 - got 3 points but was doubled since i was an probationary license

25 in a 15 - school zone and got 3 points there.. even though the sign wasn't flashing and there were no kids there since i was late to school that day..

I hardly ever pay a ticket if it is local just on general principles.

It usually costs me just as much (or more) to get a lawyer to beat it, but at least it don't go on my driving record and make my insurance rates go up. :dunno::lol:

She doesnt know if he had a radar/laser detetector. He was on a motorcycle and it happened so fast. All he asked for was her license she tried to talk to him but he rushed her to get back to busting people. Its seems like it was a big trap to me.

As far as insurance goes (her mom works for our agent) they said it wouldnt change our rates, dont know how that works but thats good.

I always wondered how that points system worked... They don't do that here in Louisiana. They just run your driving record and see how many offesses you have been convicted of and determine your insurance rates from that. (Kinda like running your credit report to determine your interest rate). I'm with state farm.....every few months or so (or maybe its once a year) they run your record and if you have any new moving violations, they will raise your rates. They did that to me once before, ended up raising my monthly payments by like 12 or 13 bucks.
