Stealer trying to find me a 373 rearend with the 5.3 motor and he said it's N/A anymore with the 5.3 ? Said you have to go to the 6.0 to get it. Is this true ? I know all we located in the area where i live all have the 342 rearend.

I'm getting a 2009 Silverado CC 4x4 1500 LT 5.3 and 342's (wanted 373's) Greystone ...

Rodney,I'm going to have to double check,But I think thats the case now....Thats because of the 6-spd. tranny,Its my understanding that the way they have it geared its almost like the truck has 3.73s in it already.

Just bought a Sierra 1500 A/T, iron block 5.3 Flex fuel, with 3.73 gears. Another identical truck sat right next to it....... Maybe something with tha non-flexfuels?

Is yours an extended-cab or a crew-cab? That makes a difference.

I told the stealer today that i was gonna trade BUT being it's just a few days til April i'm gonna wait to see what the rebates will be in April ? Will this be a mistake ?

Trying to time the rebates is kind of a crap shoot. If you can find sales figures for the preceding few quarters it could give you an educated guess but I think that the crew cab has sustained it's cashback this quarter while the extended cab lost some. It might follow that the crew cab is due for a cut, not a gain. Just my opinion, you do what you want.

5.3 FF, four speed, on an extended cab. It's all about milage claims. Some say 19 highway, some say 20. Looks to me like the 19s are the ones with 3.73s and four speeds. Maybe the first gear is lower in the six speeds, so the 3.43 works, and gives good highway miles. Bought mine because I feared the incentives would drop after the 31st. The inventory is way down, or so it appears, and my dealer said they have some difficulty buying (compared to past).

We only have 6 or 7 extended cabs on our lot, all 4-speed auto, 5.3, and 4x4

All of them have 3.73 rear end...

Yes,Thats because their extended-cabs,The 6-spd. hasn't made it into the extended or regular cabs with the 5.3 yet,Just the crew-cabs.

5.3L CrewCab is only 6-speed for 2009. All other p/u body styles are still 4-speed with 5.3l motor. 6-speed only has 3.08 and 3.42 axles available with the 5.3L, but it has a monster first gear. You won't miss the 3.73's....heck even the 3.08 with the 6-speed has more first gear torque multiplication than a 4-speed with 3.73 gears.

(3.08+6-speed is close to 4-speed+4.10 axle)
