Help Me With Some More Pricing On A Hd

Well I'm getting very close to buying a 2500HD (hopefully this weekend). Found another truck that even suits me better (really wanted to 17" wheels and 265 tires and this one has it, plus it just came in to the dealer 1 month ago, unlike the other truck which sat around since september)

MSRP $38,725

Invoice (Credit Union) $ 36,369.94

Factory Rebate - $ 3,500

So far down to $ 32,869.94

I've only talked so far over the phone, the sales guy is the best one I've talked to so far, he said come in and drive it and we'll see what we can do with the price. Over the phone I said I wanted to play closer to 30,000.

So my question is I know the first thing he is going to ask when I come in is what do I want to pay. I was thinking of saying 31,000 and I'll take it. Do you think there is more there to negotiate or is 31,000 about the lowest I should expect.? Your thoughts please

I would think you could get closer to $30,000. I bought an 09 2500HD in Feb that MSRP for a little over $41k and got it for under $33k. It took some back and forth and I said no 2 or 3 times, but they eventually got there. Good luck, my only advice is make it seem like you don't really want it and walk away at least once. Then you will know you are getting the best deal.

I agree, my truck's MSRP was $39,430 and I got for under $28,000

Now, I don't know if the rebates I got are still available, but there was $7500 worth of 'em.

Just to be clear, for some reason the rebates on GMCs were not as big as on the Chevy, and you didn't mention which you were looking at, so that could make a difference.

I'd probably start at $28k and go from there. You may need to walk away but my guess is you can get it for under $30k. Good luck!

Check out http://www.gmsupplierdiscount.com

That will give you a idea of how low they will go (then figure in rebates) for the average

person walking in off the street.

OR.........Put on a request on a few GM vehicle sites for a GM employee/retiree/family

member to sponsor you for either the Employee price for friends or GM supplier price

for friends programs.

The best one is the GM employee price for friends deal BUT only current employees

can give that deal out and most are limited to 1 giveout per month.

The advantages for either of these programs (besides a rock bottom price) are:

No advertising fee, DOC fee limited to $75.

The supplier price sucks in my opinion... anyone off the street can deal & get a better price. The employee/retiree/family price is below invoice. These prices can be found on the web.

Thanks for your replies guys, hopefully I'll be the proud new owner of a 2500HD this weekend. This would be my first new truck in 13 years, so I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little excited. But I'm getting a KILLER deal or I'll be driving home in my good ole' 96 K1500.

Oh and pics will be prompt if I drive her home :D
