Daystar Comfort Ride Kit?

Recommended Posts

I've seen a lot of the RC and skyjacker leveling kits out there, just wondering if anyone has tried the Daystar kit? Curious if there is any ride difference in the kits?

I'm bumping this because I'd love to know the answer as well. Considering adding this kit to my '09 Sierra.

its just another 2" spacer kit... it wont ride any different than any of the 10 other 2" spacer kits available.

One big difference is the Daystar kit uses stud extenders. Other kits attach the spacer to the strut with OEM bolts and 3 new bolts to attach strut to upper shock mount bucket. With these other kits you then rotate the strut 180 degrees to reinstall. On my 2010 4x4 Tahoe the struts don't go back on without preloading the lower rubber bushing to a dangerous degree. See my post:

Sorry but ill have to say you are wrong on this one. Being that it is polyurathane and not Billet it will provide a softer ride once its broke in usually in a few days.

you're falling for a marketing gimmick.

just so you know... saying its "polyurethane" doesnt tell you anything about it. polyurethane can be as soft as a rubber band or as hard as a rock depending on its chemical composition.

to effectively change the ride comfort it would have to deflect a considerable amount, which i can assure you, based on suspension system design, it wont. your ride comfort comes directly from the deflection of the spring, shock damping coeff., and geometry (load paths).... everything else is marketing.

companies are extremely good at marketing.... they easily make the consumer say "oh yeah, that makes sense". I bet they're using an extremely hard "polyurethane" so the connection is just as rigid as a billet spacer. If its not, then i hope you enjoy the clunking sounds that will ensue after it "breaks in" :D

and dont get me wrong... i actually would prefer a polyurethance spacer over a billet spacer since you want to avoid dissimilar metal contact everywhere you can and there's less chance of corrosion issues....

But if you buy these thinking you'll have a better ride, then you're mistaking. But in the end...no harm / no foul since you'll never notice.

I have actually riden in a truck with both Billet and a daystar kits and you can def tell a difference in ride. Go a put the daystar in your hand and you will see what i mean. Its not gonna give when you hold it cause you cannot put as much pressure on it and your truck will but it does flex and give with the weight of the truck on it. I believe i saw a pic of one instaleed where you can see the give in it ill find it then post it.

And there are people who swear their trucks with aftermarket torsion keys cranked 2" ride better than stock torsion keys cranked 2" too... and same story "ive ridden in both trucks". Hell, my truck rides better after i wash it and it feels more powerful... but does it really? It's all perception. I bet that if I took two trucks into the shop, installed the 2" RC on one truck and the 2" daystar on another truck and told you that the daystar kit was on the truck that actually had the RC kit, you would come back and say "yeah this one definitely rides better" :jester:

If that "spacer" squishes, you lose tension on the bolts that mount the coil body to the frame and it's going to knock around like crazy; that connection is rigid by design, whether you're using polyurethane/ steel/ aluminum. Any deflection it has in minimal...

IMO, there is no fundamental reasoning behind Daystars proposal that their kit will "ride better" than any other 2" kit. Springs/Shocks/Angles are all the same. There is not enough deflection in the spacers to physically change the ride quality....

I know what the spacers feel like, i've installed them on plenty of jeeps (and will probably get them for my wifes jeep).

Opinions Vary.

My opinion... "Better ride quality" = Gimmick

:D

I agree with Matt also. That "difference in ride" is in your head! Even if it did provide a variance in ride, it would be so minuscule that your ass would not be able to distinguish it.
