Trailer Brake Wiring Harness Question

I just recently purchased a Hopkins Towing Reliance trailer brake for my 02 Yukon. The car came with the wiring harness for the brake system. On the controller it only has four wires ( Blue Black Red and White ) but not the brown one for the illumination.

 

Where should I connect the illumination wire that is coming from my factory harness ???

I would guess that the "illumination" wire would be to control the brightness of the lights like on everything else on the dash. But since your controller does not have that feature, just don't connect it.

 

Be sure to not leave a bare wire to this hanging. Best to tape it and tie wrap it so the tape does not come off. Or put a "wire nut" on the end. Or crimp a crimp connector on the end.

 

The only way to know for sure (unless someone else knew) would be to look at a factory electrical diagram for your year and model vehicle.
