General Advice On This 07 New Body Style.

Hello,

Thanks ahead of time to anyone with advice and to anyone reading this post.

My brother bought an 07 Silverado extended cab from Bob Johnsons Chevrolet in Rochester NY, it was the last 07 they had.

He has had the truck into their shop for warranty service 6-7 times for the front and rear brakes now.

The service manager there after speaking with a rep from GM said that the problem with vibrations and sounds from the brakes are related to the weather in NY, but the service manager said other trucks dont have that problem. the 2500 comes with disc brakes, but said that drums are better.

He has had to have the windshield replaced because of faulty windshield wipers.

His 4wd harness was unplugged, the guy tried to blame it on a subwoofer that my brother can't stand to turn up, just likes a small amount of bass added, that's his style.

The paintjob, after looking at it in the sunlight we could see the primer showing through down the driverside of the truck, possible the passenger side. Nu-Look and Bob Johnsons decided to paint the truck under the warranty. They only did a panel job, and one panel looks brown (because of the primer showing through) next to the panel that they painted at the shop. There is also over-spray and clear coat chipping. They even ripped one of the decals and have yet to make right on this with my brother. There is also a new dent on the driver side fender where they were painting.

My brother asked for them to just take the truck, and give him one comparable that is without these problems.

What can he do to remedy this? Is there any way to get his problems taken care of, get the word out on this dealership giving him the run around?

I should mention, the truck only has about 25k miles.

Thanks!

Without getting into all the other problems, If your brother has had the truck in 6-7 times for the same problem, he should probably start investigating New York's Lemon Law and how to turn the truck in under that.

Sounds like a product of crappy service - not a crappy truck to me. Not sure what the brake problems are but I don't see many people in here complaining about GMT900 brake issues. At 25K I doubt he can do much but try another dealer and try to get the problems solved.

The paint work needs to go back to whoever did it and be made right.

He needs to go have a meeting with the service manager. Make an appointment and be polite. If that gets him nowhere, start heading up the ladder. Next is the General manager. If that doesn't help, start making noise like you intend to take it up with the dealership owner. Most managers will do just about anything reasonable to keep a problem fro making it to the owner.

More than anything. NO THREATS. Pissing them off will just make it worse. Be polite but firm.

Thanks for both posts.

Exactly, not a crappy truck. I love the trucks and look forward to purchasing one when I finish my CRJ degree. I worked at Delphi in Rochester, and quality of product was always my #1. I made the manifolds for the 5.3 and 6.0 and did a bunch of the gauging fresh out of the mold machines. It's looking like he's about ready to get a lawyer involved but he's keeping the temper down. It's a shame because the Camaro 2SS purchase is now going to be going over to Spurr Chevrolet down the road.

Thanks again!
