Painted Some Stuff This Weekend!

I ordered a Graystone Metallic spray can from www.automotivetouchup.com and went to town this past weekend. Everything went pretty well. I sanded for hours upon hours, but I really like doing this kind of stuff, so I didn't mind. The door handles were by far the toughest to sand and get the same consistency. I still need to touch up the driver's side door handle a little, but other than that, I am pretty satisfied.

And no, I haven't completely debadged. lol

Used a combination of 120, 220, 400, 600, 1000, 1500, and 2000 grit sandpapers. Applied 3 coats of Dupli-Color adhesion promotor, 4 coats of base coat, and 4 coats of clear.

Looks good. Maybe it's just the pics, but the handles look a little dull. :sigh:

Yeah, the pass side is fine. It turned out pretty glossy, but you are totally right about the driver's side. I just couldn't get it right after a loooong time, so I am going to go back to it this next weekend. I am not sure why they were so much harder to get smooth, other than the obvious shape of them. Maybe a slightly different material? Not sure.

Color matching looks good! I like the tailgate handle the most. I still need to color match my bowtie :sigh:

I'll tell you, I was pretty impressed with the color match. I wasn't sure what to expect, but had read something about this web site and thought I would take a chance. The tailgate is my favorite also! :D

Let me know what you Charge for the Tailgate!! Looks Good except for as noted the Drivers Side Handel but you will knock that out this weekend! How much was required for the project, do you have enough to redo Drivers Side?

Yeah, I probably have just enought to redo the driver's side. lol

I had most of the sandpaper already from another project, but each grit was about $4 at Autozone. The adhesion promotor was $7, clear coat $7, and the base coat was $28 shipped. So, all in all it would be just under $80 to do all the things I did.

You should paint my tailgate handle :D

And Mine but need a Dark Blue Metallic for Mine!! :dunno:

Is the giant blue font really necessary? It's actually quite obnoxious.
