Brake Pulsation

yeah, I know this is another one beaten to death but I got some interesting news today.

My brakes started vibrating at higher speeds a few months ago, and slowly got worse so I finally had my shop get it in and take a look at it. Mines a 2007 GMT900 crew 1500 with drum rears. Test drive quickly pointed to front rotors, no big deal.

My tech brought me out after he had it racked to show me what was going on, and much to my surprise he also found the drivers hub starting to wear. I had absolutely no idea the hub bearing was getting loose, the truck drives and handles great except for the brake shake.

My truck has a little over 21k on the clock, I think this is one of those things folks should definitely look at when they get the brakes looked at. There was no feelable side to side movement, you could feel the hub when you rocked the tire up and down. Even then, the bearing still rolled smooth, like I said, the truck made no indication there was a bearing failing.

So, a new hub and two turned rotors later and my Chev is stopping smooth as silk again. Warranty picked up the tab for this repair, minor inconvenience but I am still happy to be driving my Chevrolet.

At first I would've guessed alignment issue causing uneven tire wear (cupping).

Ive got an 08 Sierra with 5,000 miles on it that already has vibration when braking! To the dealer we go.

Damn cheap rotors! So many complaints about them on the GMT-900's. I've not yet... but just waiting for it
