Nbs Bose Helpful Info

I have been wanting to add an amp to the factory nav with bose in my 2009 since I bought it.  Since day one I was never satisfied with the sound quality of the bose, or the loudness of it.  I have searched high and low trying to find amp info, and how to wire in an amp to the bose.  I didnt really want to buy the expensive adapter either.  So I finally bought speakers and an amp and dove right in.  I was able to wire a Scoche line out converter under the cup holder/ tray on the center console.  (this is where the factory amp harness is)  And for those of you looking for an amp turn on signal, I found a very good source for this as well.  There is a white wire on the plug that goes to the factory amp.  So i tapped into that wire for my amp turn on.  As for wiring in the line out converter it is very simple.  On the harness when you peel back the wire loom some, you will see 4 sets of wires, two in each that are braided together.  These are the door speaker wires colors listed below.

RF Speaker +/- lt. green - dk. green +,- radio harness or amplifier

LR Speaker +/- brown - yellow +,- radio harness or amplifier

RR Speaker +/- dk. blue - lt. blue +,- radio harness or amplifier

LF Speaker +/- tan - gray +,- radio harness or amplifier

I have been told not to wire after the factory amp, but I tried to wire before it (behind the head unit) with no luck.  These wires I tapped are after the bose amp, but there is no chace of damaging anything I have already proved that.  I just used the little wire taps that "t" into a wire that are crimped on to tap into the factory speaker wires.  Some people think this is ghetto I know, but this is quick and easy, and your not cutting the factory wires, so going back to stock is still an option if you ever decided to remove your audio for trade in...  I then ran about a foot of speaker wire (4 ea) to the line out converter.  Then I ran the RCA's under the carpet to the back wall to my amp.  Well I hope this helps some of you guys out there.  Let me know if you have any questions I will be glad to help the best i can.

Good information.. Does the amp filter any of the low frequencies from these channels? I was thinking about simply taping in to the 4 wires going to the bose sub, and connecting to high level inputs on the new amp.

yYes the factory amp does cut out low frequencies as the volume increases. I installed a MTX RE-Q5 (more affordable version of the JL Audio Cleansweep) and it sounds amaing now.

Awesome, I appreciate the info. I plan on doing the same thing, but will only be adding a sub. Do you think I can also access the sub wires under the cup holder? I've heard removing the whole console was necessary and wasn't too excited about that, thanks.

Did the install this past weekend myself using the re-q and it went very smoothly. All the wires I needed to tap into are right underneath the cupholders so there was no need to remove the whole console. Mounted the re-q in the center console which fits nicely... Have a 12" sub in the back now and the stereo sounds 10x better.

Excellent. It really improves the sound with just an amp and sub. That pitiful 6" underpowered bose sub sounds like crap. At least you can get some good punch just replacing that. Door speakers and an amp would add another big improvement but that is a much bigger undertaking. Good job!

Is the bose amp accessible through the center console? Does anyone have a complete wiring diagram for the Bose amp?

Mine required pretty much removing the center console to get access.

HERE is a link to an 08 schematic. Word of warning, it still took a while to figure out my 08 as it was not exact.
