Bare Bonze Computer Build With Intel I7

Just a general question. Is it possible to build a barebone system with the new Intel i7 processor with a decent mother board, ATX case memory and hard drive for around $500 or is the cost of the i7 still high since it is so new? Suggestions? Was looking at running XP Pro for now but upgrading to Win7 when it comes out.

Go to a look at the bare bones systems on Tiger Direct. They usually have pretty darn good prices on bare bones systems.

Yeah I just built an i7 system and it was about 900 bucks...But I got gamer-oriented parts.

Yes, my buddy just ordered parts for an i7 rig. Got it to around 500 bucks. He ordered the AS-Rock motherboard which is one of the very few i7 boards that is under 250 bucks.

 

Also, order the CPU from Microcenter.com they have the cheapest prices on i7 cpu's right now.
