Oil Sample Results "break-in" Oil Change

Well here are the results. This is typical of the engines I have bought new, or the ones we build here. Wear metals high, some silicon (dirt). This is why I change it at 500 miles or 50 hours. There is nothing wrong with the engine, this is normal. I simply don't want this stuff in my engine. Engines are not built in a "clean room". I will take another sample at 3000 miles.

I had similar test results on my first change at 1500miles. Copper and silicates high. I believe the copper is from bearing wear-in and the silicates are leftovers fro the casting process. Changing the second time at 5K to see the test sample. Then I will decide when to actually change going forward.

Yeah that is why I cringe when people talk about going 10K on the first one, if the copper/silicon particles are smaller that 30 micron some filters arent catching them...yet the same individual will give me a hard time for going over 3000 rpm during the break in period. No rants, no hard line, just don't like the idea of it in my engine. I like the oil samples to come back clean :shakehead:
