How To Remove Wax Residue From Plastic?

Recommended Posts

I was washing/waxing my truck and got some Mothers wax on some of the plastic trim. Now that it's dry it looks bad - what is the remedy? I think I remember something about peanut butter or baby oil...

Thanks

ermmm ... been a while ... i know baby oil will 'hide it' ...

i have used 90% ispryl alchy on cotton and cleaned it off .. then put a plastic or vinyl dressing on the peice (since the alchy strips everything) ...

also some dawn soap and a stiff brush should get it...

Duragloss makes a Wax Eraser that is made specifically to remove wax from plastic trim. It comes in a small bottle with a foam applicator attached much like a liquid shoe polish bottle. I do not have the part # with me right now but you can find it on their Website. BTW, you will not find Duragloss in any of the big box retail type stores. They only sell through traditional Auto Parts stores.

I've got some Griots garage dried on wax remover and that stuff works great

Turtle Wax bug & tar remover works great and it leaves the plastic nice and semi-glossy.

white eraser will remove it 100% best thing to use

White eraser works very well, not expensive, etc. Pink eraser does not work well at all.

White PENCIL eraser? I'll have to buy a bunch of those because I'm really messy with wax. When I'm done even my arms have a nice shine to them.

buy the clicker type where you can replace the eraser (they are like 3" long replacements?)
