The bed mat that I have it just thrown in the bed. It's not attached in any form.

+1

Well I don't have one, but my Dad had one in his old truck. The one in the bed was just laying there, but I don't know about the tailgate. I almost think it was screwed or bolted or something.

The rubber bed mat that was in my old truck was screwed down to the bed, before I got it. I did not like that leaves and things would work their way under it. I just installed a bed rug and it uses hook and loop (Velcro) to hold it where you want it. So if people are saying the mat will stay put in most places by itself, you could go the hook and loop options in places that needed a bit more help to stay put, like the tailgate. I agree with Vmax, don't put holes where they were not put by the factory if there are other options.

I got mine off EBay. The mat just gets thrown in the back (it can't slide or move because the wheelwells hold it in place).

The tailgate protector is supposed to be screwed in but I didn't bother. I just put it on top of the tailgate if I need to move something that might scratch it.

My rubber mat sticks just fine and is easily removable for an occasional wash. I did screw the tailgate mat on, I drop my tailgate too much to fool around with protecting it on each use.

 Thanks for your advices.

I wil simply put it in the bed. it has the exactly the dimensions, I think that it do not move, I will see. For the taillgate I will stick the mat, no drill it is better as you says , especially that I live right by the sea !
