Conservatives and Joe Manchin are to thank for this, not the White House. Brandon supported ramming through 3 trillion more in stimulus. If he got his wish, goodbye deficit reduction. Applauding this is like thanking an arsonist who ran out of gas before he could burn my house down.3 points

It's been a lot of fun designing and using the 3D Printer for projects on my truck. If any of you are interested in some of my other adventures I also enjoy producing videos of the projects on my DIY/projects channel: kodiak timbercraft. I got my Denali not long after I started making videos so most of the projects on there are truck projects. The channel is very small so if you find it interesting I'd really appreciate subscribers! I've posted about some of the projects here but not every one. And I've got another one in progress right now at the prototyping phase, loving it so far! I'll get that one up in a couple weeks or so. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrGovK8lzFGtKn2Z7L2W7nw A few of the projects:2 points

Brandon says we are in a period of transition away from fossil fuels. They don't want the price of gasoline to come down, it goes against their master plan.2 points

I will guess. You make valid points custom. I will go with clean oil or frequent OCI's because it has worked for years. Now if I had a problem like Grumpy, I get testing. I would have traded it, so kudos to him.2 points

We need programing to have the silverado 10 speed shift like the new Escalade V! I love my 10 speed but the lazy shifting is my only regret from my previous tuned trucks.1 point

Trying hard to figure out how to reply, LOL , getting old sucks. Thank for the input ,think I will just wait till the right truck comes along, thanks guys for the help. Ron1 point

Absolutely! I have another pair hot off the printer and could make another set or two tomorrow. Looks like $15 shipped is a fair price. Message me directly and we can set it up, I can do paypal. I can have them shipped tomorrow.1 point

I'll probably send a sample when it's time to change oil. More for personal input than anything. I'm not worried about 1qt of use during this period. I'm more interested in the analysis for the future.1 point

Until I get that fuel problem under control my only workable defense is very short OCI's. Solution to pollution is dilution. At 1,735 miles this OCI and it looks really REALLY good diyer2 would still be running it Still I'll test on the next OCI.1 point

100% agree there loving the high prices, also they don't pay for gas we do through our taxes.1 point

I use many different brands, but keep them uniform for a specific vehicle. For example, my wife's Honda Pilot and the Escalade get Mobil 1, my Silverado gets Castrol Edge with Titanium, the Trans Am and F250 get Pennzoil. Basically I use whatever I think is the best at the time of its first oil change and I stick with that oil brand throughout the life of the vehicle. Unless something comes along that says "hey stupid, change oil brands", RARELY will I change oil brands for one of my vehicles,. The exception though, when synthetic oils first started getting big in the late 90's and early 2000's, I swapped everything over to Mobil 1. I have never had a single engine oil related failure to any passenger vehicle engine that I have owned, and most see around 200K before I sell them. All of that was to state merely what I am comfortable with, and I have no evidence (other than anecdotal) to support that my methodology works any better than anybody else's. Pick a name brand full synthetic oil of the manufacturers suggested weight, get a quality filter, and change regularly. Do that and any additional worries you have are borrowed.1 point

Actually it does. Looked further in to it and see the "FSCM" (fuel sys control module) fuse so I pulled that and it finally stopped the damn fuel flow. Question remains for anyone who knows - why is the fuel pump running with no fuse or relay? Hate to see the circuit protection bypassed.1 point

Eh, I don't know. Oil just shot up over $3 a barrel because people "question" that something may happen. No actual facts or data to prove that it will happen but just a thought is what caused a spike in prices in maybe 30min time.1 point

My previous truck was a 2012 F150 3.5L Ecoboost. From 60k miles to 195k I only ever had to replace the water pump but I never had the cam phaser tick or any other common issues. The truck had plenty of power and when the turbos kicked in it would fly but gas milage was HORRENDOUS. I averaged 11-13 around town with average driving habits. I wanted a V8 and went the GMC route and got the 5.3 and I'm loving it.1 point

EVAP System 5/25/2022 171,650 miles 1,650 this OCI . No adds, color is good. Really good. Removed the purge valve and tested it. Small and I mean really small leak so replaced it. Took 15 minutes to loose seal. No, no codes tripped but it started randomly blowing back on fill up. Replaced gas cap as well as it was no longer snug when closed. As weather allows will be testing the canister, purge valve and changing the purge filter. (Ramps and rain)1 point

Well I never evaluated oil for over 50 years, I just changed it more, it worked for me. Coming here the oil debate raised it's head but all it proved to me was there are a lot of different opinions about every aspect of oil. From OCI's to the brands people use. For a while I got caught up in this debate but in the end shorter OCI's have always been the norm for me and I never had a mechanical failure on any motor. So I'll change my oil while you guys debate oil.1 point

My 500 Enfield gets 92 mpg and the Sporty 60 mpg and Glide 50 mpg. Wife's Vespa near 100 mpg. It's how I got through the embargo during the 70's. But currently just cutting back on the driving is working. I don't need to drive 30K miles a year. I just like to.1 point

I'm not looking at buying anything. The upfront cost(price, taxes, insurance) of another type of transportation will be used to buy gas for what I have.1 point

For the most part oil has but a few functions. 1.) Keep one part from rubbing on another part. 2.) Reduce friction. 3.) Cool. Point #1 is covered by viscosity and all oils have viscosity. Use the correct one for the build and conditions. Point #2 is covered if point one is covered....pretty much. Point #3 follows point #2.....pretty much. Petty much means? Yes there are some small mole hill like differences that marketing makes mountain like in appearance. If you have enough knowledge and experience you can leverage some of these differences into tangible advantages. Most do not. Fact is most don't even care. But there will never be a shortage of debate on the topic. Mostly ignorant debates.1 point

I didn't break any, but I did find one missing from the factory and another smashed instead of inserted in the hole on the fender side panels.1 point

There are zero adjustments for that. Your only option is to swap struts and shocks for a better product than the OEM parts. Tires play a role in this as well. Certain tires ride worse than others and the stock 255/70/17's have lots of sidewall, so they run pretty smooth on the open road.1 point

Here is a thread that has a couple of images with a 4" lift on stock wheels and tires. I do not personally think they look that bad.1 point

Would be great if you could see the truck on the lot, to check the weight data tags. Just watch your pin weight on the trailer. When I first loaded out the 5th wheel, it was almost 3,400 lbs on the pin. This 5th wheel has a washer dryer in the nose, and I had about 1,000 lbs in the front gen set compartment. Most Toy haulers will lighten the tongue once weight is in the garage. So maybe a couple of bikes along with a Turbo Razor. If you don't already have a SxS, and want to get the purchase past your "Chief Finance Officer", you might try this: "But honey, we need the Turbo Razor in the back to keep the tongue weight in tolerance." (let me know if that works for you. )1 point

Towing/hauling safety is only as safe as the skill of the driver. Your truck could drag a 12k pound trailer down an ocean beach if you wanted it to.1 point
