  1. This, it didn't add any noticeable or measurable power. ? What? So the Camaro is faster, handles better, stops better, is better balanced and sounds better yet the nearly six thousand pound truck with the same horesepower is more fun? Care to explain this? Major improvement? How much did it show on the dyno? Flowmasters are never know for giving good HP because they are a chambered muffler that adds restrictions and increases the chance of drone, so no real power was gained there as well as removing the flap wasn't a choke point. So as newdude said it is just a placebo effect. Tyler
  2. Would look better with the yellow west point plate and rear west point decal removed. How are gloss black wheels not forgettable? That would be more so than the stockers are you can't see any design or detail with them, just a sea of black. Personally the stockers looks great (though wished they were a 20 as bigger isn't always better); that is the problem we are having when shopping these Denali's and Escalades, they are all 22's it seems especially if you add any sort of option package. Definitely looks pretty good though with this new gen, we are really wanting to see the Blue, Quartz, Dark Sky and Hunter colors in person or in pics like yours to get an idea what we like. Tyler
  3. They did last month, 2021's are already out for most models (midsizers you see out, ditto with the full size SUV's so the trucks should be too). https://www.tfltruck.com/2020/07/2021-chevy-silverado-1500-offers-new-packages/ Tyler
  4. Really? Does the pic have a load in the bed because it looks nose high in that pic... OP, safe means something different to each person which is why people are running around with 2.5-3" leveling spacers thinking it is safe. What you need to realize you are essentially stacking leveling kits as the factory TB/AT4 is a leveling kit. If you do, I would make sure to at least add new UCA's since they are standard UCA's and running nearly 4" of lift them is just too much long term. Sure they are probably fine for a while or those who never leave the pavement which realistically is most, but that angle is a ton and that is a common failure in any IFS truck that is leveled. Most anyone who says they haven't had a problem and are running that much don't have many miles on it and haven't been abusing it off road. Tyler
  5. I have seen this complaint a few times and don't understand it, and I have first hand experience as my Fiance's Rav4 does the same thing where only the front doors unlock the vehicle with the proximity key. All we have to do is reach out a few feet to grab the front door handle to unlock the entire vehicle, not a big deal. As vehicles do more things people get entitled and there could easily be other reasons for it like reducing accidental activation of the locks. For example it eliminates two doors that can be accidentally unlocked by leaning or rubbing against it. I know with the Rav4 if I have the key in my pocked while washing the car when cleaning the handles the doors can lock/unlock. My brothers Altima has the unlock only on the front doors and he just touches the front door then puts my nephew in the back, easy peasy. Tyler
  6. Two questions... First, who told you a tune that changes the computer settings causes these things to spontaneously combust? Was it a sales guy? Tons of late model GM performance cars (and tuned trucks) running around not catching on fire. I would say amsoil products have a better chance of causing a fire than a tune... Second, how do you know that was the case of what caused that trucks fire? You drove by on the highway, did you circle up, track down the owner and find out later after a thorough investigation it was the tune and not a bad wiring job from lights or some type of accidental broken/cracked fuel line? The engines will eventually be able to be tuned, manufacturers are making it harder but at some point it will be cracked. You can't blame them though as that messes with their warranty costs for people that mess with it, screw it up then try and claim it to be covered by the manufacturer. I would like them all to be able to be tuned but easily tracked so people that do can't claim repairs, got to pay to play, I don't want to pay for others mess ups. Tyler
  7. You would think so though with all the guys who buy 4wd down here and never leave the pavement, for that one ice storm every 5+ years is a wasteful option for most. OP, the 18's will ride better, be cheaper and lighter than the 20's setup. Not to mention they will be less prone to damage. Exact ride differences between the two brands is probably negligible as GM has particular parameters that tires need to meet. Tyler
  8. Have either of you thought about searching the 1,000's of other threads asking the same question? That is probably the number one question on any car/truck based forum...
  9. When all the vain people post all the awesome pics of their truck to those people who idolize it just be sure cover your license plate, no one will ever know where you live or where they can find your truck to steal... Tyler
  10. What is the maximum payload for your truck on the door jamb sticker? That is usually the limiting factor. Heavily optioned trucks can have a fairly small payload. Rams for example can be down around 1,000 pounds for the tongue weight and passengers. Figure 8k trailer, 10% tongue weight of 800 pounds (probably a little high depending on the trailer) leaves around 200 pounds of passengers and gears. That pano roof, alcantara 18 way adjustable seats with 4 climate zones and massive screens isn't looking so good when you are trying to get the family, boat and gear to the lake for a long weekend and you have to bring a second vehicle to be legal... My buddy has a 2500 Ram one of the loaded versions I think a laramie longhorn with a cummins, his payload is 200 pounds more than my LT 1500 5.3 Chevy. Tyler
  11. 87 is completely fine, 93 is only recommended. Plenty of people run it down south and in higher elevations where detonation is more of an issue and they have no problems. Run 93 (or 91) by all means but 87 won't make it run like it's missing or complete crap, you 'd just lose a few hp and about 1mpg. Didn't know the package came with mud terrain tires, I thought they were only the hybrid tires; mud terrains aren't great in the hard packed winter weather. Tyler
  12. So with how tiny the passages are and how the oil is vital to access and control you suggest going thicker versus the hundreds of thousands of hours of testing with engineers who have degrees specifically in the field and have been working and testing specific failures and results? ? It isn't like tolerances have gotten much tighter over the years since 5-30 was the norm ? Kind of wondering about your name now... Tyler
  13. Can't say I recall ever being in a car with a door lock button in the rear. None of our cars in our family has had them, that way kids can't unlock the car. Not seeing how it is of any importance. As I read this stuff again I think you mean the keyless entry where you just grab the handle and it unlocks? That is also a feature I haven't seen often on the rear doors. Wasn't a big deal, just tap the front handle or button and it unlocked all doors if I have to put something in the rear. I hope they just give the current interior a nip and tuck, don't replace it with some luxury car inspired dash that won't last and is hard to use. There is a reason trucks are designed a certain way and the current dash is extremely user friendly. Tyler
  14. That's damaged? I was expecting nicks, chips or something else not caused by a something rubber brushing up against it. I wouldn't even think twice about that as I will get a ton more wear and tear just using it as a truck. Sounds like you needed to spend a little more as 65k wasn't enough to guarantee a "damaged" free wheel. Might want to see if they will give you a new truck or lemon law it, that might solve it? Tyler
  15. ? Yeah like no GM has ever been know to last over 130k... You drank that Toyota kool-aid quick, you gotta sip it! For ****** and giggles I did a quick autotrader search on Silverado 1500's and Tundras with over 200k miles, there are 989 listed in the US and the first page looked to be about 3 or 4 to 1 Chevy to Toyota listings. Not at all scientific but puts a dagger in your if you want to last over 130k remark you buy a Toyota, they haven't been historically reliable in a few decades... For the record, most GM trucks when we get rid of them are north of 150k, not sure how that is possible with it not being a Toyota be we do it and none have had major repairs, not even a water pump. Tyler
  16. So basically you were just shooting to blind oncoming traffic and vehicles you are behind at night? Looks like you accomplished that with those headlights... Might be a better idea to upgrade to some proper LED housings that are made for the bulbs. Tyler
  17. ? Yeah you have any solid data backing that up or just the words of a few AFM haters on the forums? How prematurely? 50k? 75k? 100k? Would be nice if you can let us know when! There is nothing anywhere that points to running V4 mode causing failures, GM would have pulled that in a heart beat if it was going to cause a bunch of wasted money in warranty claims or recalls. GM has a history of long lasting reliable engines going well past 100's of thousands of miles, we have had multiple at our house and a few friends I am close with (one pushed 300k before trade in with zero issues). You can't believe everything you hear on the internet and it doesn't help to pass on false info... Tyler
  18. ? 22's on a truck and you'd be embarrassed about lifting a 2wd and he's the poser? OP, those that mention you don't lift a 2wd buy a truck for the image, don't listen to those people. Many buy 4wd just for 4x4 emblem looks but you know what, most couldn't tell if it was a 4wd or 2wd by looking at it and would need to see the 4wd knob... By all means you can and should lift a 2wd, it is those that buy 4wd with no use for it that are the problem and should be embarrassed. Good on you for getting a 2wd truck knowing you didn't need 4wd, saved a bunch of money and no one is the wiser. Now don't go putting 4wd emblems on it though, saw a 2wd Titan lifted with aftermarket 4wd stickers on it and it was only a 2wd, those people really have problems. Also be happy with the fact a lifted 2wd won't have as many problems or potential for problems as a lifted 4wd because a worn out CV axle is annoying and a failed transfer case or front diff is expensive. Tyler
  19. Less options mean more payload, pretty simple. Keep the SLT more basic (less options) and you should gain a few hundred more pounds in payload with the NHT. 1485 is what our CCLB Canyon payload sticker shows it can handle. All these box checker trucks trying to tow can easily get over the limit due to their low payload. Countless times you see a boat pic posted attached to a top trim level truck and instantly know it is over payload unless they are towing alone. Take the Ram for example, some trims have only 1,000 lbs of payload in their top trim levels. I will say kudos for paying attention to the actual payload sticker and not the website or brochure listing, you are doing it right. Tyler
  20. With heat and driving tires increase in pressure. Set them when cold and in the shade around 35 and it will heat up around 5 degrees give or take when driving, being in the sun and when the temp outside climbs. No worries, they can usually handle a whole lot more. Those tires appear to have a max inflation pressure of 44 psi (which is the max when cold). You are completely safe and have them set at the correct pressure. Tyler
  21. Two post, to threads, both complaining about the same thing, you could have easily just continued the other thread instead of blowing up with another new one. Either way thanks for being a contributing member of these forums and informing everyone about what they already knew. There was a change made first of all with a TSB regarding it. Second, now your truck is worth 65k? Did it appreciate or what? Price your truck is worth (that isn't what you paid so don't lie) doesn't guarantee having a trouble free vehicle. Just because you spent more than guy buying a WT does that mean he should have problems and yours should be trouble free? You know the truck is based on a 25k truck right the bones of it are? If anything those basic trucks should be trouble free as they buy them to work and the box checker versions should be the ones that have trouble since they can afford it and aren't used for work; if we are using the price means no troubles theory... What exactly failed? If it was the condenser lines which was a problem with the trucks that was redesigned: "In October of 2014, GM informed technicians in a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB PIT5331) to replace the faulty line with a newly designed tube and to install a bracket (part #23264893) to minimize any flexing or movement." The condenser was also redesigned. So if it is the old one (which it isn't) there is a new one to replace it, if it is the new one (which it should be) there aren't a slew of failures and it is a rogue one out of warranty. You didn't even give them time to follow up with the dealer, GM or anything, you gave it one day. Did you follow up with any of the TSB's or the special coverage someone posted in your other complaint thread? Special Coverage Adjustment 17336 Air Conditioning Condenser (Combi-Cooler) Refrigerant Leak Copyright 2017 General Motors. All Rights Reserved. Please go to another brand, I bet your laundry list of issues and complaint threads start much sooner. The grass isn't always greener. Anyways, don't let us know what happens, just get it fixed and sell the truck and move on and realize the world can't always be how you want it and sometimes stuff happens... Tyler
  22. Not possible, judging by some people's posts and rationing on here if you don't have a range or it tuned out you should have been through 4 sets of failed lifters and getting ready for a full on engine failure as AFM doesn't work right, makes the vehicle less dependable and doesn't save any gas, blasphemy! Would love to hear how that works. Flow almost always equals larger openings while filtering fine particles is almost always small openings. Is there some type of magic webbing in there that allows it to catch small particles with larger openings or small openings that allow the oil to flow freely? Does it require to be cleaned and sprayed with oil prior to use? Over the years I have learned to be weary of K&N claims... Tyler
  23. https://www.viamotors.com/electric-vehicles.html It is a plug in hybrid with a 35-40 mile range on electricity. Not bad, good range for most around town or to and from work on electricity alone. I am a fan of hybrid tech, especially plug in with some descent range on electricity. The fiances next car will most likely be the plug in hybrid Rav4. Errands and to and from work on electricity and then we can still take it on long road trips on gas. Tyler
  24. Did you read one review and it happened to be one of the poor ones and just associate that with all reviews? Most of the reviews I have been seeing have been positive, very positive. For every bad review there are 4 or 5 positive ones. Even most of the mpg themed reviews, unless they are running 75+ in boost that is the only time I am seeing poor mpg, are positive it seems. The power of the motor gets the most recognition. Not bad in the Silverado, but it will shine in the Colorado and deem the 2.8 diesel irrelevant. The 3.0 is nice, but unless towing regularly lighter weights or just concerned with mpg on long highway jaunts it will still be the least picked kid in gym class. Then you have to weigh in all the other costs associated with that motor (trim level, engine option cost, financing, insurance, maintenance, fuel costs, etc) and it really becomes hard to justify unless long term well past 100k miles.
