  1. Wow seriously? They add 5k to the msrp of these things and then delete the sub in the middle console lol bean counters.
  2. I'm just going to give you advice and a lesson i learned myself a long damn time ago. Keep it stock and save your money! I know, i know but if you must, i repeat you better do your due diligence and find prior work done , pictures, video, references and even contact anyone who has had work done like this with them and see what they have to say. Do not trust these shops at their word, do not pay them a single cent until you see the finished product and it is satisfactory, Perosnally again i just wouldn't f with your truck. There are so many hack shops out there and work like this, if not done correctly can ruin your truck. If Whipple has someone they recommend, drive to them imo!
  3. Yes and a lovely one at that! Personally nothing messes up a cars smell more than cigarette smoke, nor more impossible to get rid of and clean up! I would rather have the turds of a thousand cattle smell in my truck then a everyday smoker! Nothing worse than a smoked out vehicle imo.
  4. The fed is going to get very aggressive it sounds like to me very soon. I am hearing in the realm of 1-1.5% rate increase before the end of this year with more to come in 2023. Just that small rate bump literally adds thousands of dollars to the price of the truck in the end.
  5. I agree that anyone who has bought a truck in the last 2 years has paid minimum 8-10 grand more than they should have imo. Another thing to factor and keep an eye on though are interest rates, if he waits and if he is financing which with the prices im sure he is, even just a couple percentage points increase = hundreds of extra in dead money cost per month and thousand over the life of the loan.
  6. Yes Direct Injected engines sound literally like a box of rocks at times, oil will not lesson that sound as it is the injectors firing away. This is common for most DI engines to be honest not just GM ones. The oil pump noise though, while yes Diyer i have had 8 years so far relatively problem free engine wise, i have also driven other 6.2 and 5.3 trucks in my model range years that do not have this noise so not it is not normal for everyone.
  7. I hear it loud and clear in that video, drive next to a wall with the windows down and and it will amplify it. I have the same noise in my 6.2, no matter how many times i have had dealers look at it i got nothing but the it's normal routine. From reading up here from the fact it does it while in park and varies with the throttle imo it is the oil pump, there was a post on here in the k-series forum a few years ago that these pumps can sometimes be noisey. Not saying this is definitely the issue but i have been chasing this noise for years now. I have also read that a bad torque convertor can create a whine type noise but i would think it would not do it while in park if it was that.
  8. Well it's either that or mainstream American media might have to actually discuss issues facing our nation!
  9. Let me guess they changed only one side of lifters and now they get to tear it all down a second time to do the other bank?
  10. That will help provide some protection behind the front tires but not with the rear. The coating just isn't very strong and most smaller rocks that get stuck in the tire and then flung upwards will chip it off little by little.
  11. Wow looks great but those 35's have no rub at full crank and on incline?
  12. Go with a gmpp plan if you don't want to hassle or find repair places that can stomach said aftermarket warranty company. As was said good luck on cost if you choose to not wrap it into the price of the car when purchasing. The 2 extended gmpp plat plans i bought were at sale time and paid 1,800 for my 05 silvy and almost 2k for my 14. Both paid for themselves and both of my trucks have been relatively problem free. Get a single a/c issue and one fix pays for said warranty. Especially with today's sensor ridden and tech loaded trucks. Imo your a bonehead if you have a 55-70k truck that you are not leasing and want to own with a standard 35k warranty, good luck to those people!
  13. If anyone cares Opec just flipped our idiot in chief the bird and will be cutting back production. This means price increases and our reserves are just about all used up now. I guess we should just hope nothing happens, as i don't think our military runs on batteries!
  14. This has been an ongoing situation since my model year was released 8 years ago now. Gm has 0 plans to ever fix this issue, or let me rephrase that, it will be fixed when gm no longer offers the 6.2 / 5.3 v-8 engines in it's truck line!
  15. It is the oil pump imo, i have complained about mine for 7 years now, dealer would never lift a finger since it all still works. Knock on wood it is still running ok but as loud and annoying as ever. Sounds a lot like a old Ford Tauris power steering pump whine from the 80's! Anyone old enough I'm sure has heard that sound before since all Tauris models had that issue!
  16. Be sure to have ball joints, idler and pitman arms readily available at your local auto parts store with that 99. I had a 95 zr2 and in 10 years of owning from new it i went through 8 sets of ball joints,6 idler arms and 5 pitman arms. Gm thought it was ok to use the standard s10 suspension components and throw 31" bfg tires on it and it be ok lmao.
  17. As we use up our strategic reserves for people to pretend that 15-20 cents less for gas is now some huge achievement. The price will be skyrocketing with no backup plans left come after labor day so enjoy the next couple weeks, and the kicker will be needing to then refill those reserves at a x10 the price compared to what Trump filled them for!
  18. Lol, i don't think we have had 5 1/2 inches of rain this entire summer, i think we have gotten a half inch the last 2 months, have not had any rain days here in the north east since early june, every storm system that forms just seems to miss us.
  19. This is their union problem, they have requirements to build this many units and they are being stuffed into lots not working for lack of part content! The crash though will come from our country crashing, which it already is imo! By this time next month interest rates on car loans will more than likely be double what they are now, im hearing July 27ish is going to be a major interest rate hike!
  20. It really is an issue i believe with most dealerships today, i would say at best most dealers might have 1 possible 2 guys they can trust to diagnose and the rest are mostly low paid oil changers.
  21. Crazy and just proves how dealerships have almost no one who can diagnose today. Throwing thousand dollar items " fuse blocks" at it and having no success is something my know nothing a@@ could do, but dealerships should really have at least one guy on staff that knows his a@@ from his elbow! I don't understand how they could take a week to see if the engine is seized, wouldn't most mechanics be able to tell if that was the case in a few simple steps?
  22. Gm just wants to get you past the 3/36, once that happens the majority of the time you are on your own unless your dealer goes to bat for you. This is a good lesson for the extended warranties are not worth it people, everyone i bought paid me back x2 at the bare minimum. All it takes is sometimes one or 2 issues during the 7 years of extended coverage to pay you back what you invested into it, these trucks cost too much to fix to be on the hook after only 3 years or 36k which some people go past year one of owning!
  23. At my work only the vaccinated continue to catch and spread covid among themselves. We have one guy twice shot and twice boosted who just got done with covid bought number 4. I don't know, i think most who took the vaccine have damaged their own immune systems, just my opinion from what i'm seeing.
  24. The bad parts today are at least in my area around 7 dollar a gallon for fuel then add in def. The worst part is not just the fact the price is blowing up on this fuel, but the talk of shortages are what is most concerning.
  25. I still think the rims that came on my all terrain are the nicest looking rims gm ever put on a truck. They also hold up well and still look as new as the day i drove the ruck home off the lot. Machined and painted accent look is always the way to go with a gm rim imo!
