Reformed Debadger

I was just thinkin about all the debadging threads and realized that I was a debadger nearly thirty yrs ago, before it was all the rage. I just wanted to confess that in front of Daddy and all the world. Now I feel better.

 

I had my, then black/silver, El Camino repainted all black and told them to remove all the many chrome strip trim pieces on the side and around the bed as well as the decals and some badges. A dozen yrs later, I was painting it again, myself, this time all white and disassembled the whole thing, and I took the remaining badges off for good. Thinkin about it, it did kinda look like a Work Truck afterward..

 

I WAS a debadger. Now I'm reformed.

I always thought that debadging was a trend started by people with base model and work trucks as a ploy to make all of the trucks look the same so you couldn't tell the difference between the higher end and lower end model......

No, it's just for people who know what looks good.

 

I might have owned an SLE truck but that's because I don't believe in dropping BMW cash on a truck. I also de-badged my G35X with premium package, so there.

Nope, most do not even know what they mean. But I figure the poor sobs in 5.3 trucks (and the "other" brands) deserve to know why they are getting their ass smoked.

 

Showing them the SLT badge on the tailgate afterward would be just plain mean.
