Burning Mp3 Cd

I know that I can play MP3 CDs in my 08 Silverado, but I'm not sure if there is a specific format the files need to be in in order for the radio to read the files. How many folders can you have on the disc? I plan on making one Music folder, then having subfolders for Genre, artists in the particular Genre and then artist's songs. Something like Music > Country/Rock/Rap/Classic Rock > Artists > Song or Maybe Music > Country/Rock/Rap/Classic Rock > Songs. I'm wanting to know if there is a specific format or specific boxes that need to be checked. I've never played MP3 CD's since none of my radios have been able to play them. I will be using WMP 11 to burn them.

I think it only plays them if you don't split them into folders; I dumped a bunch of songs on the CD and just split the different kinds of music up on different CDs. The radio should read the artist, song title, album title from the CD (at least mine do). Almost all of my MP3 files are ripped from my CD collection; depending on how they are ripped it might not read all the info about the song but should still play it. I burned the CD as a data CD so it would keep the MP3s as MP3s, if you do it as an audio CD it converts them and you get the standard 12 to 16 songs per CD.

I burned an MP3 cd that had folders and it doesnt play all of the songs on the cd. I dont know why it does that?

I'm trying to keep from carrying any CDs in my truck. I scratch them up over time. They skip on bumpy roads. I've gone with the ipod.

You can use folders as I do and they play fine. There is a max to the number of songs you can put onto one CD which might explain why it plays some. In the manual it explained the file layout. I think I just put folders in the root directory. I had a folder for artist and then sub-folders for each album.

What bugs me is you cannot use a DVD with mp3's. If I made up a DVD with mp3's I could get 6 times the number of songs on one disc but I have not been able to get it to work.

The Delphi radio in the wife's Acadia will play DVD MP3's, but the truck radios are made by Denso. My owners manual doesn't specifically mention DVD MP3's, but the navigation manual states that the radio will not read a DVD MP3.

I'm assuming your radio is DVD capable for rear seat entertainment?

Interesting. My wife has a Buick Enclave and I never tried it in hers since I assumed it was the same as mine. I'm going to try it as we alternate vehicles on long trips. Thanks for the info.

And yes, I have DVD for the rear entertainment but then again so does my wife's Enclave.

Well kind of, I made the MP3 CDs just to try it out and to have in the truck incase I don't have my Zune. I would much rather have my complete music collection to pick from with out changing CDs.

The last 4 MP3 cds haven't worked in my truck :o( The few I made before these worked fine. I didn't do anything different, didn't exceed the capacity of the disk, just doesn't want to play all of the songs. Oh well, I use my iphone almost all of the time anyway, or XM. Just called to cancel again and was given ANOTHER 3 free months! YES!!!!
