Arkansas looks to be a good/nice place to live, not sure yet what part of the state yet. I like Hunting,Fishing, motorcycles etc. What are your thoughts?

They only problem I see is that it is the law that you will have to divorce your wife and marry one of your close relatives. Other than that, it's a beautiful place.

Piggy-u fans are insane. When Texas traveled back there to play them several years ago they went nuts. I'm not saying that TX fans are saints, but I haven't ever heard of TX fans throwing ziploc bags of urine onto the other team's band and fans as they're coming into the stadium.

AR is great for all of the things you are looking for, the only down side is the wild life is not that big compared to other places, or thats what everybody says. If you move here the people can be great and will treat you like you treat them. Heard story today of a guy from up north who moved to the north central part of the state and he was overheard to say that he would show these dumb hillbillys how to farm. Two years later he had a auction to sell off everything after the bank took it over, and he was overheard saying "I don't know how I went thru all that money so fast" Where I live we get snow about 3 times a year and the world comes to a stop because no one knows how to drive, the state does not know how to operate snow plows, and the stores all sell out of bread and milk.

The summers get a little hot for some but it not that bad. Come pay us a visit.

The Hot Springs area is nice. The Northwest corner of the state is nice. The Northeast side where I have a house is mostly flat and farm country. Cost of living isn't bad. Housing is affordable. Like everywhere else, you have good folks and bad folks. I have been worse places.

I lived in Texarkana for a year in mid 1980's and I remember that it rained a lot in that part of the state.

Too much in fact.

NO offense but Arkie is boring. Go west, where there are mountains.

Have you ever actually BEEN to Arkansas? It's really beautiful in a lot of places there. Lakes, Mountains, great two lanes for motorcycling. Like most states, it really depends on what part you go to. The Orarks are sweet. The Northern part is awesome. I've been there a few times... not sure if I'd want to live there.

Z in right on point. I have lived in Arkansas for 29 or my 31 years on earth and it has been nothing but good to me.

I have several hobbies which AR allows great places to enjoy them. Hunting, Fishing, Hiking, Camping, Mountainbiking, Shooting, Scuba Diving and Eating. (The southern food is some of the best tasting, but worst for you :dunno: )

I live between Little Rock and Hot Springs, and have access to 99% of anything I want/need. The 1% I cant get there, I can drive two hours North to Memphis, TN or 4.5 hours south to Dallas, TX.

I spent 2006-2007 up north in RI / MA. I actually enjoyed most of it sans the ultra liberals :jester: But it just wasn't home to me. So the wife, the dog, and I packed up the truck and moved back south.

The biggest plus for AR other than the great outdoors, is the LOW cost of living. I am fortunate enough to work for a MA based company as a engineer, which includes a MA based engineers salary. So for us, it works out great!

Compared to New England, AR has MUCH MUCH lower housing cost (rent/mortgage), insurance costs, grocery costs, fuel costs, and MUCH nicer people.

The deer, squirrel, rabbit, dove, and hog hunting is GREAT here. Not to mention the world renowned Duck Hunting!

Feel free to IM me anytime for any other info you require. And if you do decide to move down here, let me know when and where and I will buy you a welcome beer. :dunno:

I cant believe how low housing prices are in the States period.....its incredible.

Just for reference, Arkansas housing prices were really never inflated so they never dropped. For the most part, the pricing has stayed the same all through the mortgage "crisis".

I just paid $98 a sq/ft for my newly built home I built in a nice area. 18 months ago, I was quoted the same $98 a sq/ft when I was initally looking to build. The land I purchased has actually already increased in value by 40% so says the county assessor since 01/09 when I chose the land to build my house on.

So say what you will but I assure you that AR as a whole has some of the lowest COL and housing cost in the country. :jester:
