Silverado Vs Toyota T100

OK - First off this is NOT one of those goofy goodbye to GM forever posts. It's just a comparison - and then I want to know if what I have is normal.

2007 GMT800 Crew Cab LS 4WD - Bought new (This is the 'classic' or old body style)

Front differential needed to be rebuilt because 4WDLO was screwing up - Warranty

Rear right axle seal leaking so it was replaced - Warranty

Rear right axle leaking again - whole axle replaced - Warranty

Oil Leak - Oil pan gasket replaced and new hole drilled in flange of oil pan - Warranty

Intermediate Shaft Clunk - Replaced Intermediate Shaft - Warranty

Power Steering Pump replaced - Warranty

Oil is leaking again - going in soon to see what's up.

Thumpy Clunky trnasmission from 2-3 and 3-2 - nothing done - yet.

35K miles

That seems like a lot of problems for so few miles. Is anyone else having these kinds of problems. I can't complain at all about GM's service - they just fix it. Pretty great actually. But, just for comparison, the only other truck I ever bought new was a T100.

1996 Toyota T100 SR5 4WD - Bought new and sold at 115K miles

New Head Gasket - Recall

New Power Steering Arm - Recall

Weird clunking from truck body - fixed under warranty

New Slave Cylinder - went out way after warranty

New Fan Clutch - went out way after warranty

Nowhere near as many problems - and no problems at all in the first 36K, except for the clunking and the recalls.

So, did I get a bad one? Since the 3/36 goes away in a month, I'm a little worried.

Let me know or flame away . . . . . :omg:

While the GMT800 have a shit load of problems only one or two of your's are common. You could have got one built on a Friday afternoon.

is your 07 a NBS or old body ?

Old, or 'classic' - I thought I would use GMT 800

Sorry , I missed that. I didnt think any GMT900 s had the shaft problems.

Not normal problems. I don't blame you for being concerned. I know nothing about the T100, but maybe it had better overall initial build quality--but you should have a better idea of that model and owner complaints than we do. The GMT900 took a huge step forward in "build quality", but the kinds of things that bugged me on the GMT800 design were creaks/rattles/etc... not axles and oil leaks. My previous 99 GMC was never in the shop except for the headliner design issue that they had. The drive line was pretty much flawless the whole time.

towards the end of a model run. Like the obs 07s They were probably all "friday builds"

all in all youve got 6 problems vs 5. Theres not much of a difference It just took 2 warranty tries for the chevy!

Not normal, and no issues but a transmission seal and main oil seal, both covered under warranty for me. :omg:

my 05 sierra need to have the oil pan gasket replaced and new shocks and that my steering shaft is making that clunking noise other then that never had any problems and this is all starting now at 125k thats pretty good

I should have added: The GMT800 trucks are solid, so don't be overly concerned. Address the existing issues under warranty. The "clunk" in the transmission may be in issue, but it may also be drive-shaft related (slip yoke). If so, that's common to all of the larger trucks (including the Tundra...). If it's in the transmission, get it fixed before your warranty expires.

It's more like 8 to 3.

2 of the 5 problems on the Toyota were recalls. He didn't state there was a problem, just a recall performed.
