2006 Equinox Traction Control Switch

Now that I've gotten by the squeaky steering wheel problem (older thread) I have another issue. There is no traction control switch, at least not that I can see. This Equinox is a 2006 LT2 with AWD. According to the owner's manual the T/C switch should be above the radio and to the left of the foglight switch. There is just a plastic insert in that spot. I have confirmed that the vehicle is equipped with traction control and the indicator light is present in the dash. Also, I noticed that the heated seat switches are not where they are supposed to be - they are located in the console just forward of the shifter (you can barely see them) instead just below the temperature control. There is a black plastic tab where they are supposed to be. It almost seems like they ran out of the correct switches on the assembly line. Thanks in advance.

I think I answered my own question...according to the owner's manual, only the front wheel drive models have traction control available. I guess that makes sense. I was led to believe that mine had it because the Chevy dealer I bought it from had 'Traction Control' listed as one of the options on the sticker and also they told me that if the traction control light is present in the dash then it is equipped with it. When I went back for my first complimentary oil change last week, I looked at their used Equinoxes and noticed that a number of the AWD models had 'Traction Control' on the sticker. I still haven't figured out why the heated seat switches are in the wrong spot.

It probably still has traction control and stability control, you just cant turn it off.

 

The heated seat switches are probably in a different location because there is something else on the AWD that is too close to where they are supposed to be on the FWD model. The owners manual probably shows the Fully loaded FWD model.
