Hole In Bumper?

My friend has an 08 Silverado LT and I have an 09 Silverado LT. Mine has a rectangular opening in the center of the bumper (just under the grill) while his doesn't.

 

What is this hole for? Is it new for '09 or does it come with a package/option?

Its for increased cooling,Prior to '09 it was only part of the "NHT" Max-Trailering Pkg.

Also,HD's have always had the slot.

haha, nice! Mine doesnt have it, but I'm pretty sure I will soon. I have a dent on my drive fender but the front bumper got hit too, so hopefully they will have to replace the entire thing and I'll get my "cooler" slot.

I would say GM put it there for the extra cooling,and I wouldn't delete it,But who knows if it really makes that big of a difference :banghead:

Yeah, I reckon so, I just hate the look of it, sort of kills the sleek look I intend to shoot for.
