Hey guys what going on. I am having a problem i sea foamed the crank case witch went just fine. I changed the old today useing 10w30 witch is the recomented oil for the motor and i did use some engine restore also. i have used it in the past with out any problem. now before the oil change the truck's pressure at idle was about 30 psi and at about 70 MPH with the 3 speed at about 50 psi or so. Now after the oil change the Psi at idle is about 35 and when i press on the gas maybe about 30% and up throttle the oil PSI shoot up well over 60 ( 60 is the max the gauge goes ) I am worried about over pressure and blowing a gasket or something. o when i changed the oil i put in the recomended amount of 5 quorts. let me know thank you all.

It should be fine, you may want to try and hook up a aftermarket mechanical oil pressure gauge to see if maybe the stock one is off a tad. My 98 350 has oil pressure up to 75-80 when its cold, so even if its right, you should be just fine. your very lucky to be getting that kind of oil pressure out of a old truck like that. My old 92 3/4 ton had maybe 10-15 psi for oil pressure...

Rule of thump for oil pressure is 6psi for the first 1000RPM and 1psi for every thousand after that. As long as you have that your okay. 30psi is fine you shouldn't have any issues. You could try a mechanical gauge just to check your gauge in the cluster.

well i feel a alittle bit better. last night i was talking to my nabor and he put together a hot rod and he was telling me at idle he was running something like 55 psi on start up. i am going to go out and get a mechanincal gauge to check everything out. thank you for putting some worrys to rest.
