Changing Oil

Currently I have Vavoline 5W30 full synthetic, I'm planning on going to Mobil15W30 full synthetic at my next oil change.....will this cause any problems?

Whew, it's probably a good thing that mixing with Amsoil wasn't mentioned!

 

Honestly, I've always used OEM oil filters and had zero internal engine problems on any vehicle.

Personally I would stick with the Valvoline 5W30. It shows as good or better than Mobil 1 used oil analysis on bobistheoilguy.com. I don't believe I would go to a 15 weight on the low side. I would not go past 10W30.

 

I use AC Delco filters and have never had a problem. The GM engineers do thousands of miles of testing to find out what what works best. Although Mobil 1, Wix or Purolator filters are good.

I run Supertech (walmart) 5w30 full synthetic and supertech oil filters in all my vehicles. From trucks to high compression 9,800 rpm n/a race motors I have built and high compression supercharged engines.

 

 

Theres no big deal in switching from valvoline to mobiile.. the question is why u going from 5w30 to 15w30?? Doesnt make alot of sense.

Switching from Valvoline to Mobil 1 isn't a problem.

 

What kind of oil drain interval are you planning on going with? 3k, 5k, or longer? Depending on the drain interval you want to go with makes a difference on the oil filter.

 

Regular AC Delco, Wix, Purolator filters are good for 5k, K&N and Mobil 1 filters are good for longer drain intervals up to 10k, and AMSOIL EaO are good up past 15K.

He isn't going to a 15w-30 he got the 1 in Mobil 1 to close to the 5w-30.

My mistake as well. I would still stick with the Valvoline. I think they have a better add pack than Mobil 1. I believe Valvoline uses Lubrizol for their add packs, the same company that amsoil uses.
