79 Frame ?s

wondered if anybody knew if the frame on a 79 is the same as a 85 almost for certain they are but wanted to make sure wanting to put a plow on the 79 and my home town meyer dealer is telling me that they dont make a mount for it but they do for 82 and later

First off, welcome aboard.

 

Secondly, They should be very close if not identical. Personally, this guy does not sound too concerned about selling anything. Are you buying a new plow or are you looking to fit one somebody else has? If it was me, I would have the guy pull the 1982 paperwork and the mounting hardware out of the box and compare it to the actual truck.... I would check here for better giudance...

They are pretty much the same. The '79 has a different type brake line mount,through the frame with a clip.The '85 has a bracket on the outside of the frame.On the earlier style Fisher plows the plow mount is a little longer and the brake line goes through the the plow frame on the later ones they just make the driver's side plow frame a little shorter.It's been my experience that '82 and later plow frames fit on earlier trucks easier.The earlier frames on later trucks may require a little "trimming",but it will go on no problem...It just may take a little longer.
