2007 Tahoe Delayed Starting Problem

I posted last evening asking for advice on a reputable GM Service Center in the Houston area. http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=106014

I got a call from the Service Manager this morning stating they have replaced alot of things. Now there is a 6 second delay when starting the vehicle with the key. The factory remote start works fine with no delay, only when using the ignition. They have been on the phone with the GM Corporate Tech Center trying to figure this out.

Any of you GM techs potentially know what the problem may be? This is a 2007 Tahoe LT with 32000 miles on it and in great shape. I'm in a bind as my family is leaving Friday for South Dakota for Christmas and need to get this resolved so we have a vehicle. Appreciate everyone's assistance.

I wouldn't say anything to them myself let them figure it out. Most techs don't take kindly to suggestions from the customer...especially if your not a tech by trade.

Having said that...I would disconnect the remote start and see if that makes a difference.

Thanks for the advice and I agree. Just looking for ideas as even the Service Manager is looking for guidance at this point. Since I had a DVD player installed that morning, he is going to disconnect the DVD player this afternoon to see if it may be wiring related. Not sure if this helps matters but should eliminate the DVD player or wiring to be a factor.

Yeah it has to be related to something like that....maybe a PassLock II relearn would work too.

I'm just guessing...hopefully sparkstech will chime in, as he is a tech at GM...or at least he used to be I know that much. Also gmtech4...he may have an answer....but he was a trans specialist, so I don't know how much exposure he has to troubleshooting issues like this.

Turned out to be the DVD player I had installed by an Audio Shop. They were tapping into the wrong power source. I will take it back to the Audio shop tomorrow and have them correct their mistake. Fortunately, the Dealer did not charge me for any of this.

Ya beat me I was going to say DVD player, I had one do this a few months ago

Amateurs............... :D:lol::lol:

In defense of whoever is doing the installs GM really changed the way they do power moding in the last few years. I'm sure you know in previous years there was battery power and switched power. Everything switched was controlled by one or two big fat B+ wires in and 5 or 6 big fat Ign pwr circuits out. Not like that any more, the ignition switch is very low voltage and only tells the BCM what power mode is commanded ( off,accy, on or start). From there the BCM makes all of the power moding decisions and turns on necessary circuits.

It can be a real PITA to find a good circuit to pull ignition feed from anymore.

Yeah I know man...but I had to make fun of them.

I usually run a wire from something in the 15Amp range thats hot with IGN on. I cant remember what I used on my truck.

Its usually something insignificant so that if it stops working due to a blown fuse it wont really matter.
