Intake Gasket Leak Check

Anyone know a good way to check for intake manifold gasket leaks?

When mine had a leak I kept getting codes letting me know it was running lean. I tried spraying carb cleaner around the intake manifold as suggested and listened for a change in the idle with no luck. Local shops offered to smoke test it looking for leaks. After putting in a new felpro gasket the codes never came back. I never noticed any change in idle or performance.

 

Do a search on this forum and you'll be sure to find a bunch of posts on this. Mine began to leak as the outside temps dropped below freezing.

I just changed mine out today 2002 Suburban with 5.3. I never could tell for sure if it was leaking, but it just always ran like a dog when cold. Wow, what a difference the new gaskets make. If you change them, make sure you get the updated Blue/Green colored ones. NAPA tried to sell me the orange ones first.
