Wheel Selection Help

I'm going to buy new wheels for my '07 GMT900 sometime between now and spring but am having a hard time deciding if I want something in chrome or go a different route by choosing black wheels. Personally, I really like the look of chrome but am also attracted the "toughness" of black wheels. You can search around and find a lot of trucks with a lot of different wheels, but until you find you body style, in the right color, and the right wheels it is difficult to get that final vision in your head. I can picture my '07 victory red with chrome wheels but I was struggling with the black wheels. So I found a picture of a GMT900 with large XD Monster wheels, and used a little paint shop magic to connect the dots for myself. Except for the lift on my "donor truck" being about 4-5" higher than what mine will be, I think I am happy with how this looks. Let me know what you think.

Hey Cheriff! I think that is a great photoshop job, if I do say so myself.

I like the Monster XD wheels on that truck, looks tough.

It all comes down to personal preference. If you recall, I went through the same thing several weeks ago asking for assistance, and I got it unanimously, and I am very pleased with my decision, with others help.

My choice was two different wheels, both in chrome, so our choices are a bit different. I am a chrome kinda guy, so I would go with chrome, but that is just me. Black wheels look good on the truck too.

IMO, you can't go wrong either way!!!

I have the monsters and LOVE them. I also think black rims look amazing on black and red trucks. SOMETIMES other colors but not often. The Monsters really made my truck look a million times meaner and tougher. And I guess the bigger tires and lift helped but the rims really do it.

All in all, my suggestion is go with black rims

LSU- what are your 'after' fender measurements? So far it seems like my truck is heavily raked (3"). Just trying to get a feel for how much trimming may be in order.

With my body lift and level I have 42" in front and about 42.5" or so in back. Not sure what my before measurements were so Idk how much rake I actually had before

The first picture is a truck which belongs to a member here.. can't remember who... The second shows what this truck would look like in red with the other XD wheels I am considering. With these I like the how the shiny spots help tie into the chrome bits on the the bumpers and grille.

I live in State College, PA so the weather here will be very much like yours there in Pittsburgh. Until this week, the last 3-4 weeks had been under 32 degrees and new snow was falling a few times a week. Not a lot of snow, but enough for the crews to treat the roads.

Hey... I work in State College and Live in Bellefonte :loser: You could have joined us at Denny's Beer Barrel last weekend. CTW club goes every year. The black wheels will look awesome!

So tonight was a good night. After way tooo much thought and contemplation I've finally ordered the wheel/tire combo.

Wheels:

Mojave-Black3-2-200.jpg

Fuel-Offroad Black Mojave

20 x 9 (+20mm offset)

Wrapped in:

TrailGrappler-Three-quarter-JPEG-29.jpg

Nitto Trail Grappler

305/55/20 (essentially a 33" x 12.50")

For the wheels I realized that a black wheel was the direction I really wanted to go. I wanted it to be something that is easy to clean (those that have had painful designs know what I mean) and something that was able to break up the "black" between the wheel and the tire. I also wanted some shiny bits in the wheels to tie into the chrome parts of the truck. The spokes needed to be thick enough to look proper on a truck and I think these do. I understand my approach (with the 20's) is a little "mall-queen" and less "off-road" but I am ok with that and think the package will solve my purposes well. The ride will be a bit bumpier and little louder but I am ok with that too.

They won't ship for at least two weeks so I have some more waiting to do.
