Well, Usa Is Now #2...sad

I wouldn't worry to much about Chinese cars, now the pollution from them, that's a different story, they'll be pumping out more hydrocarbons than a 1980 Toyota Camary that hasn't even had the oil changed in 2 years but has had some new plastic chrome hub caps installed. If they start importing those cars then I'll be scared, you think these new greaseless ball joints are bad....

Jul 30 2008With just over 1.3 billion people (1,330,044,605 as of mid-2008), China is the world's largest and most populous country. As the world's population is approximately 6.7 billion, China represents a full 20% of the world's population so one in every five people on the planet is a resident of China.

You'd think they'd have sold a few more considering the population and the fact that so many of them now have jobs. :uhoh:

Actually, right now cars have a very low penetration in China. if they sell the same # of cars per person as we did a few years ago, they will be selling about 64 million/year!!! 16/300=64/1200. really, our automakers should be trying to get a bigger piece of that pie.

If you are in the auto service industry you will have to work on them or find a new line of work. Just like the people who refused to work on Japans imports years ago did not adapt got left behind. The days of GM & Ford having 75% of the market share are long gone. If you are in any service industry, you go with the market or get left out.

not to say i won't work on Japanese Imports, I'll Just grit my Teeth on a Toyota, but at least I don't have to go very far to complain for a Nissan! and I'm neutral on Honda.

China doesn't count. Their economy is going to crash big time eventually and they are not going to have the brains to fix it.

as long as dumb ass companys like wal mart continue to buy from them they will grow, communist economys do not crumble easy because they can easily turn a dollar and the whole system is based off of cheap labor with the biggest profit going into the goverment

Its ironic that the percentage of American physically manufactured parts on a toyota is greater than a gm vehicle these days. Its hard to sustain any type of economy when all you do is import import and yet we still have all these morons saying buy American made cars, when more than half the car is made in Mexico.
