What Mileage Would You Expect Out Of This Truck?

New 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, LT1, extended cab, regular bed, 2WD, 5.3 liter V8 engine with AFM, 3.42 rear end gears, locking rear differential, tow package, aluminum wheels.

The price is tempting - with my GM card rebate I could buy this new truck for just over $ 21K plus tax. But I already have one gas guzzler (2006 Z71 4X4 crew cab) and this truck is rated almost as low as my Z71 (14 MPG city and 20 MPG highway). The Z71 rating was I think 14 and 19, but they used the old EPA method, so the new truck rating by the old method would probably be like 16 and 21.

My truck is nearly identical to do that other than I also have the Z71 package. I average 16.5-17.5 roughly with 40/60 city/highway.

Sorry, I forgot, this truck also has the Z71 package. It also has the power pack plus package, and one other package(interior plus package) with steering wheel radio controls, blue tooth for phone, power seat, auto A/C. The color of the truck is blue granite metallic (very nice color in my opinion).

The MSRP is 32,270. The invoice is $ 30,348. The total rebate is $ 6,000 (2,000 of which is GM loyalty rebate for which I qualify). The selling price is $ 24,348. My GM card rebate is $ 3,000, so my price is $ 21,348 plus tax, tag and title fees (no other dealer fees). The only problem is that they tax rebates here in Florida, so I would have to pay 6% tax on $ 30,348, which is over $ 1,800. This brings the total price to about $ 23,300. ( I hate Florida vehicle taxes).

The bottom line is, you can still find a good deal even with higher MSRP prices. I would jump on this deal if the mileage was at least 20 MPG average. As it is, I probably will buy a car instead.

When I keep my foot out of it I usually get around 19mpg thats mainly hwy miles

When I'm in town(city) I usually get around 17 mpg

The best I ve gotten was on a 2 hour trip and my avg was 22.8. But that was after my cat back install

Before or after the blower???:rollin:

take the avg of the two and subtract 2 is the rule of thumb...thats realistic city/highway combo driving.

so 15 would be the avg for this truck....if you get more than your golden...if not...you were prepared.

Its like getting a chick...if you don't have one by 40...lower your standards.:lol:

My 4WD, as described in the sig, gets 14.5-15 in suburban/highway 60/40 mode. Got as high as 20 once on a trip, usually 18-19 hwy.

Now a two wheel drive should get 5-10% better than that, I would think...

BTW, I gotta 3.73 as well.

That's pretty much my average also. Little less using the winter blend now though.
