Add Power Sliding Rear Window

Has anyone added the power sliding rear window to their truck?

No, but some have asked about swapping out for a rear defrost window.

Yeah, I'm in Florida so the rear defrost is almost pointless. It does help on the morning when the dew completely covers the truck. Push the defrost button and it clears the dew off.

can i add just the sliding glass and not the power sliding glass?

prob could get an estimate from a shop.

These windows are bonded in with the same urethane used on the windshield.

You have to remove all the interior panels in the back and use an air knife to cut the glass out. Then you need to install the new window with the same urethane. Its about a 3 hour job.

The rear window can be cut from the outside IF you are very carefull not to tear up the paint. Plus you have to have the correct blade to get in there. Saves time on the panel removal.

GM makes a kit but it is only for 03-07 Classic Silverados/Sierra. Its GM part# 12498123. I just got a steal on one. It lists for $300 and I got it for $150 brand new.

I'm fairly certain there are aftermarket options available that wouldn't be so tough to get your hands on; you might check with one of the glass shops in your area about it.

I changed the windshiled out in my last truck not to bad. I cut the urethane out with a piece of piano wire. About a 3 foot piece worked great. got it out uncracked reinstalled because it leaked.

Do you think it is already pre-wired? I would need the overhead console with the button. What else?

As the dealer had a truck that I liked without a slider( I wanted a slider or no deal), we checked into it. body shop guy said wire harness was there other said not sure. Would need connector, switch etc.... They were still not sure they could get it to work? They wanted to sell the truck but were not jumping at putting a slider in? Which makes me think it is a problem, as GM does not offer the kit for the NBS.

Cost was high, $600+/- Plus install. After market was about $650 plus install...way to expensive...I waited and got a truck with Factory slider at $250.
