Hi there.

I'm not much of a truck guy, last one I had was about.... holy crap, 30 years ago. It was a '67 Chev with a 6cyl floor shift when I got it and a 327 with the same tranny when I sold it.

So, most of the fancy stuff on my "new to me" 2000 Chev Silverado 4x4 Z71, is a bit of a mystery.

It has the 4x4 pushbutton and it seems very temperamental to use. Of course it's colder than a witch's t*t out there so maybe that's all it is. Last night I was trying to get into 4high and it took about 10 minutes of playing around before it actually switched. The weird thing is the light on the 2high button was out most of the time as well.

Guess I got a lot of reading to do, looks like this is a pretty active forum and there's lots of old posts to check out.

Cheers

Well, one down...

After doing a search I decided to try the in-dash 4x4 switch fix. Thanks to TedH for posting a link to the bezel removal pic .

I took the switch assy out, re-soldered the pcb/pins and its working perfect.

Thanks GM-Trucks.com
