I tow a 20' toyhauler trailer with my 05 YD using an Equilizer hitch. When I hook up the Yukon the suspension pumps up and stay that way for a while. When we stop, the back end has settled drastically (even though the compressor is not running). When we re-start the vehicle the suspension pumps itself back up then settles again over time. I discussed this with the GM dealer that I recently purchased it from and he say that this in normal and there is nothing they can do about it. My concern is first that this changes the geometry of my hitch and it raises my headlights for night driving. I tried pulling the fuse once it pumped itself up, but it still settled over time. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to keep the system level?

The way Autoride should work is that it continuously adjusts the ride height of the vehicle. If it sags while you are driving, the system should kick in and level the vehicle. However, it may sag while you are parked and will not re-level until the vehicle is started. Regardless, while the vehicle is running, if the system is in proper working order, the vehicle will remain level.

I have Autoride on my '05 Suburban and I've never noticed it sagging after it's been parked for a while, even overnight. This is when it's hooked up to my box trailer with a fair amount of weight. of course, I just may have never noticed it. How long are you talking about when it's parked that you notice the sagging?

I want to add also that it should not sag while you are parked either, it is just more common. It sounds like you have an air leak somewhere in the system.

The sagging occurs while I'm towing the trailer. I notice it when I stop; like for gas. Then after I fuel and start the vehicle it pumps itself back up, but sags again over time. The dealer says that this is normal and that there is no fix for this; my issue is that this vehicle is designed to tow and this can't be right. Today I looked into Firestone Coil-Rite air helper springs. Does anyone have any experience with these?

Generally those airbag kits are for vehicles that do not have air suspension already. The dealer is wrong, the vehicle should remain level, that is the point of the air leveling system.

This company makes OEM style replacements for the stock components. I have no experience with them, I just found the website when researching LTZ Suburbans to purchase.

+1. I vote that you have an air leak.

Good news! I brought the vehicle back to the dealer I purchased it from today to check out the autoride system: they found that both rear shocks leaked air and replaced them free of charge. I'm towing with the vehicle this weekend and will see if this works. I'm thinking of installing the air bags that fit in the coil springs anyway. Looking at the Firestone or AirRide bags; anyone have any input on either of these?

My 05 Denali did the same thing. I recently noticed the compressor was running more often with no load. I had to replace the rear shocks. $850.00! You're so lucky they replaced them for free!
