285/75-16s On A Light Duty 2500?

Looking at some new sneakers for a 2004 Light Duty 2500 Silverado crew 4WD. The truck is essentially the same as a 1500HD from best I can tell (3.73 gears, lesser GVWR). 265s would be no issue at all but I think 285s would look better..........way better. Any mods needed (i.e. cranking the bars, trimming the lower corner of the gray plastic air dam below the metal bumper, etc.). Also, will there be any issues with tire rub on the stock rim size when turned lock to lock? What about during suspension compression?

Thanks in advance!

Also looking at Yokohama Geolander ATs.........any thoughts on them?

.. you are right that this truck is identical to a 2003 1500HD and a 2005 1500HD... it is just a badge issue with GM.... in 2004 they called it 2500.... same truck in everyway.

.. I don't get into these "will this tire size fit?" discussions very much, but I have heard of guys putting the 285's on their trucks with no problems

.. I am sure that the Yokohama tires are good, but I have no experience with them... another great tire to check out is the TOYO OPEN COUNTRY A/T... I believe that the price for LT285/75R16's in "D" 8-ply's should be about the same...

You might have to do a little trimming on the inside of the inner wheel well, and the valance. I would at least do a leveling kit on the front end, I dont think they will fit as is, and cranking the bars you will get more height but the ride quality will suffer and it will be more stress on your front end parts. The Yoko's are a good tire they will have more road noise than your stock tires but most AT's are like that, the Toyo's I have never had, but have a friend that has always put them on all of his trucks.

Crank the torison bars or add a leveling kit and slap some 285/75/16's on it and it'll look sharp. I had 285/75/16's on my '01 1500 and my dad has them on is '04 duramax it looks 1000000000000x better after you do it
