2010 Sierra. Really Impressed.

Well, seems like the GM Traction Control System is standard now on W/T models (work truck)

I did 2 PDI's during the afternoon today (pre-delivery inspection)

1st pdi---2010 Sierra 2wd W/T, 4.3 V6,Auto,3.23 open rear end, reg cab short box

2nd pdi---2010 Sierra 4wd W/T, reg cab long box, 4.8 V8, 3.42 limited slip diff, manual 4x4 on floor

Guys...if you are street-driving your daily driver truck, you don't need 4x4 anymore.

I was so impressed with the trac control....I was doing all types of manuevers with the 2wd...and we just had fresh snow also...I could take off from a dead stop, throttle it up to 65%...and the truck NEVER SIDETRACKED AND STAYED STRAIGHT WITH THE STEERING WHEEL. Unbelievable. From an open diff W/T.

The limited slip W/T always wanted to drift to the left or right, all the time. In 4x4 or in 2wd...didn't matter.

hmmmmm.......SuperStealth with a W/T........................................?????????????????

Yeah, just make sure NOT to touch the On/Off switch, or else it will act like an older truck!

I can get the "said" W/T for $17,600

whatchya think fellas???

I could have bought a similar 2008 new truck for $ 11,900, minus my GM card rebate, which would have made it $ 10,400 at that time (late fall of 2008).

Somebody on this forum bought a new 2007 or 2008 4X4 work truck for $ 12k and some change.

And in fall of 2008, there was a new LT2 2WD extended cab VMax truck with the 6.0 engine and bucket seats at the local dealer that I could have bought for $ 18,500 plus tax with my GM card rebate of $ 1,500.

It seems that the prices have gone up SLIGHTLY since 2008, don't you think? (Of course, the rebates and incentives are a lot less on the 2010 trucks than they were on 2008 back then).

If you drive in deep snow, then you still need 4WD. There isn't any substitute for 4WD when you really need it. Traction control is better than an open differential and no traction control, but it doesn't completely replace a posi or locker. The problem with traction control is that it locks the brake on the wheel that doesn't have traction and cuts engine power to reduce wheel spin. A posi/locker still provides forward power to both wheels. Traction control really hinders quick acceleration where one of the wheels spins. It locks one brake and throttles back on power. A posi will provide power to the wheel that still has the most traction but won't throttle back on power. Hot rodders have always loved positract for just that reason.

Nissan Titans, Frontiers, and Xterras , both 2WD and 4WD have had traction control for years. GM is way behind.

Yea I'd like to see a 2wd go down my road right now... haha not gonna happen

I assume you do not live in Miami. :)

I turn off my T/C sometimes for laughs. It makes a big ****ing difference! :)

I enjoy the fact I have a 4WD snow-be-damned traction maniac 95% of time. But sometimes I likes to slide around.

Can't comment too much as my truck is AWD. I never liked the traction control systems on my BMW or Tundra in snow. Freeking not moving or even spinning for that matter. I just shut it off and hammer on it and pull away, albeit a little sideways sometimes. On the other hand the stability control is awesome and works real good in slippery stuff, keeps her straight! My work truck is an 07 Colorado and I have 350lbs of sand in the back and about 100lbs of tools and machine parts and it does really good for 2wd with no trac or stability control. I get to scratch the fish tailing, donut whipping itch with it! Once the snow starts to get over 8", the Colorado starts hatin it and wishes it was 4wd when the frame starts dragging.

Not to get too far off track, but if you want the ultimate in snow, get snow tires. Gotem on the wifes FWD Acura and they absolutely dominate in ice and snow until the snow gets deep and ground clearance becomes an issue.

No def not, but this time of year I wish I did .. but the TC does help out a lot, but 4wd can't be substituted with all this white stuff on the ground

i don't know if i could give up my g80 for an open diff, the thing is great..as far as the T/C, i'm not a fan atleast the ones in the colorado, it does nothing but gum the motor down to stop the tires from spinning, with or without tc 2wds need a locker in the snow..
