03 1500 Brake Issues

My brother has an 03 1500 4x4. We've had the brakes flushed, new pads and rotors all the way around. But the still doesn't stop like it should. I used to have a 99 just like his and it would want to put you through the windshield. Hte problem is that there isn't enough pressure being applied. I've checked to make sure everything is moving fine like the calipers and slide bolts, etc. My brother thought that he had heard that they changed the programming in 03 to not apply as much braking pressure. Does anyone know if this is true? Thanks for any help.

Not to my knowledge.... Check the hoses!!! You may find a soft spot in the hose.... 1 soft spot on any hose will make for a spongy pedal and low pressure...

I've heard that series is notorious for having weak brakes. Did you use after-market rotors and pads? They make a big difference. I installed Brembo cross-drilled rotors on my '05 Suburban and they made a difference, especially when they get warmed up. I'll get around to installing some EBC pads at some point.

Don't mean to steal your thread, but roughly how much does a brake flush cost? My truck is getting new front rotors and pads this week so I'm thinking of doing it as well.

I would bet that it is simply a matter of the ABS being more aggressive on the 03, I have a 03 Sierra 4x4 RCSB and have had amazing service from the brakes, the truck has 170,000 miles and still has the original front brake pads, heck the rear disc lasted for 120,000. Best brake system GM ever put on the trucks, I wish my 08 was as good.
