Dumb Question.... What Does "gmt900" Stand For?

I am sure this is a really dumb question... but since I am new owner of a GMC/GM truck enquirering minds want to know. I see the term "GMT900" and "GMT800" etc... a lot and I have no idea what that is referring to or what is the difference is since I have never owned a newer GM product. I am assuming the "900" part refers to the year? I have owned a Ford F-250 Diesel prior... and the classic chevy's of days gone.

GMT900 is the newest platform in the truck chassis, so 2007 up. GMT800 is 99-07 "classic". GMT400 is 88-98. It makes more sense than NNBS or "new new body style."

GMT400 - 88-99 "classic"

GMT800 - 99 -2007 "classic"

GMT900 - 2007 - 2014????

aint that the truth! i despise the terms "oobs" and "nnbs".... ever try to hold a conversation with someone in real life when they use those terms? sounds like they're studdering!

i dont know why its so hard for people to use gmt400, gmt800, gmt900, etc.... i personally cant wait for the next platform just so i can laugh harder when someone says "i just bought a new new new body style" lol

maybe the next gen body style can be called new body style, and the current body style could be called the old new body style and the one before that would be old old new body style. If that would make things more simple...

I suggest the new model be called "Super New New Body Style"

I swear people need to cut that OBS/NBS/NNBS/NNNBS/SNNBS whatever crap out. Is it really THAT hard to call them GMT400/800/900/1000/etc.?

....uh, you forgot OOBS in your list. Just figured i'd let ya know :puke:

^ Is the GMT 900 the NBS?

The GMT900 is the NEW body style. So i would say YES, the NBS is GMT900. However, there is a bunch of people on forums that refer to the GMT800s as the NBS or "New Body Style" and the GMT900 as the NNBS or "New New Body Style"... which is what we're sort of poking fun at because it's really dumb
