Finally! Got To Install My Airaid Tube!

As some of you might know, failed emissions on my inspection due to the fact I re-flashed my stock tune a little too late. I read a thread about the Airaid system, and ordered the tube, and while I was waiting, dropped the K&N filter in my cai (stock). I mentioned previously how impressed I was with the gains just from the filter, which with previous vehicles -- not so much. Now that I passed emissions and no eminent interludes with the dealer, finally got to install the Airaid tube which has been sitting in my garage for two weeks. I have def noticed even a little more as far as performance, but man, you can really hear it suck the air, as well as making my flowmaster sound even better. Install was a little bit of a pain in the butt, only because it was so cold when I did it, but def worth it! Took about 45 minutes due to the fact the couplers where so cold and I might be a little retarded...

Best choice for the intake upgrade, does the tube or the K&n drop filter void warranty?

 

The K&N drop in filter doesnt, but to be honest, not sure about the airaid. I seriously doubt it, but just to be sure I wanted to keep it on the down low before I took it to the dealer for the emissions re-check. I have a diablosport tuner, and I never got any nasty emails from onstar with the monthly email checks. They say their program doesn't void anything, so ripping off that ridiculous over-engineered plumbing shouldn't either! I am digging it man. Prob is, like any other time one does a performance upgrade, I can't keep my foot out of it. Sounds so great romping on it a little, and I normally drive like an old man trying to keep my mpgs up!

Krobocop, I got mine off of amazon for $98, but had to wait cuz they had limited supplies-had one when I bought it then they come back and said it was back-ordered. We are all in the wrong business, plasitc tube, 4 clamps, breather tube and adapter-for 100 bux--the Airaid catalog probably cost more to print than the total of the parts. Prob took 10 to make..but damn-I love it! Allow me to hijack my own thread-did you get that passenger door open yet?

I was shopping around for a while and that price there is the lowest I found as well. If you get lucky you might find it lower like nootron did but probably with limited availability.

Installed mine this past weekend along with a K&N drop in filter. Mine really doesn't seem any louder to me. I have only driven 5 miles with it in the rain so I really can't comment a whole lot but the throttle response seemed a little better. I had noticed that this morning forgetting that I had installed it Saturday.

and yeah i got the door handle fixed.

autoanything will match the price of any competitor... just call them up and tell them you found it cheaper on "xyz.com" and they will match the price... oh remember shipping is always free when you buy from autoanything so a 100 bucks on amazon PLUS shipping. just a thot... :P

 

this is probably my next mod (really easy.. not so cheap for a plastic tube but want to get the best sound possible.. maybe a little better mileage if i can).. i am gonna wait for them to come back in stock on amazon though.

 

and yeah i got the door handle fixed.

Mine came with free shipping from Amazon. If autoanything will match any price, and amazon is out of stock, that might be a good alternative.

Here's a BIG :P to the Airaid MIT and K&N drop-in filter. Just did mine as step one in the performance mods. The Corsa Sport exhaust is on its way soon, and the tune will follow shortly thereafter!

Once the tax refund arrives I'm ordering a tube. The K&N drop-in has been in my truck almost since I got it. All the debates about "oil on the MAF sensor", "lack of filtration", etc, etc are vastly offset by not having to buy a new filter a couple of times a year. I actually cleaned my MAF sensor a few weeks ago for the first time and very little grime came off.

 

As for the tube, any difference in performance would be nice but not expected. My primary concern is getting rid of that clunky OEM tube.
