New(to Me) 98 Extended Cab Gmc Sierra

Hey everyone,

I just bought a new truck:) Its has 114,000mi on it. I am looking for any advice as to what maintanence I should do or anything that might need replacing on this old of a truck. What I have done so far: New tires, alternator, spark plugs wires, cap rotor, battery, timing belt, K&N filter. Transmission oil looks clean and engine oil has been changed by previous owner.

 

What I plan to do: Brake flush(very dirty fluid) any tips????, rear differential, front differential, transfercase, new headlights, new shocks. I plan to use synthetic oil if possible.

 

What I have questions about: Power stearing fluid flush???? anyone do this! Grease zerk fittings(How much).

 

Some questions about the front end. I get a knocking or clunking sound from front end when turning slowly. Also truck pulls to right slightly and the steering feels loose, like it should be tightened. Also get a clunk when taking off from a stop sometimes.

 

Is there anything that typically goes bad with this year range. I know about the bad fuel pumps in tank.

 

Just looking for any advice or tips on mods from the experiences owners out there. Thanks guys!!!!!!

Sounds like a nice project you have going on. PICS!!!!!!! lol

Clunk on take off could possibly be U-joints. I think there is also a problem with the steering shaft too. Just some thoughts.
