How To Remove Lower Door Weather Strip

Hi,

 

I'm trying to find out how I can remove the lower door weather strips on my 08 SD so that I can clean the underside of my doors and put a coat of wax on the portion of the door these strips cover. They are held in place with plastic clips, but I'm not sure how I can remove the clips without damaging them so that they can be reused. Has anyone else looked under these weather strips and seen allot of dirt…etc under them? I'm concerned that if I don't keep the paint on the underside of these clean it will rust.

 

Any help would be appreciated.

It is a good idea to clean under them. I would say once a yr should be plenty. As far as removing I think there is a tool out there for removing those plastic pins

It's called a screw driver. They are the same pins on the upper radiator cover under the hood and elsewhere on the truck.
