I'm Bitter / Tonneau Dented My Truck

Friggin wind here on the east coast.

I went out this a.m. and my bakflip G2 is sitting upright against the cab.

The wind blew it off all the clips. Left a nice dent above the rear window and a crack in the center light.

:)

Just venting.

Well, the cover lived up to its name - it backflipped.

But seriously, sorry about your truck. I would be pissed too. Few weeks ago I travelled to south Carolina and the wind was unbelievable. I got 12 MPG pulling an empty 5x9 utility trailer with a ramp/tailgate that acted like a parachute.

Was the tailgate open?

Do you have the foam pads that go between the back of your truck and the cover installed?

the tailgate was closed but the last section must not have been latched tight...thats the only think I can think of...I know it was closed but maybe I didn't get the click in..the foam was there but it folded in half and was sitting upright like that...so the foam piece on the cover didn't come into play..too bad it didn't roll up into quarter sections

i'll try to get a picture tonight...the dent is on an angle which is really odd...it must have been really flapping in the wind

wow that really sucks. Let us know how it turns out and pictures would be nice

I'd call BakFlip but I wouldn't expect they would have much to say. I can't prove anything. Just one of those annoying things?

I haven't taken it in for a quote...don't know if its worth fixing.

Pics..not brutal but every time I look out the window I cringe. The angle really has me scratching my head.

Maybe a good paintless dent removal guy could fix this pretty cheap. It's at least worth a try. I had a bunch of dents in my car door and one body shop said that they could not be fixed by the paintless technique. However, I had it fixed that way anyway and you cannot even tell the dents were ever there.

I agree, had snow fall on my truck once when I passed under a bridge and it did more damage to my hood and roof and The Dent wizard got them all out. Then just touch up. First get a regular autobody estimate and submitt it to your insurance company and I d think about how I would say it happened.

I put a fast airbag system on one of my truck's 12+ year's ago,I put the truck on nitrogen and it layed on the frame so when I hit the swicth to rise the back it blew the tonneau cover right up about 8 inch or so and it was locked. I got some regulator to slow it down but that was my only tonneau cover problem I ever had lol.

Wind?...I'd say it was more then wind. A storm came thru here and knocked down signs, house up the street is getting a new roof, wind blew the shingles/ underlayment off, house was couple of years old. plowking

Just this past weekend we had a bunch of small spot tornadoes hit our area. Several homes were severely damaged, even destroyed.

WOW that sucks dude. Sorry about your truck...... Where it is at it will be quite difficult for a repair unless it has studs welded to the exterior and pulled..... Also, looks like the rear window is gonnna have to come out toooo. You need to get some rust preventative measures on that bear metal ASAP.... I see flash rust started already.
