Used my truck to pull a friends 28 foot goose neck enclosed trailer, I hooked to it and pulled it to my office at lunch, parked it till quitting time and went out to take it to him and the truck was DEAD. Hit the key and nothing, hooked up jumper cables and it would crank and it would try and run but then would die. Messed with it for over an hour, checking fuses and still nothing, the only thing that I saw that was odd was the fact the "Security" message would come on and stay on while I was trying to start the truck. With my tail between my legs I called the wife and asked her to come get me and I would get another truck and deliver the trailer and then worry about my truck. I LOCKED the doors and left, came back in about an hour, UNLOCKED the truck put the key in and it started just like always!!!! So after all of this all I needed to do at first was to reset the security system before the truck would run. Sometimes I could just kick my own butt:jester:

HA!

Jim, don't feel too bad. We've all pulled a few of those stunts. At least it was OK.

Yes, a lot better than destroying the transmission. Some guy bragged to me that he actually pulled a 45,000 lb dozer on an equipment trailer with his Silverado 1500 several miles. I told him that he was out of his mind, unless he did not mind destroying the truck.

I would not mind pulling something like that a short distance with my deuce and half, not certainly would not try it with my Silverado.

Sir Dan the trailer lights stayed on and drained the battery in my truck. When I when to leave work it would not start and then I jumped it and the "Security" light stayed on in the message center. When I locked and unlocked the door it reset the "Security" system and it allowed the truck to run. It was part of the anti-thieft system on my truck, that I did not catch, when I tried to start my truck. :(
